Beatscape: I just don't get it

Ever since upgrading to Sonar PE 8.5, I've been tinkering with Beatscape.  I just don't get it... is there an easy reference guide or video somewhere out there to explain it to dummies?  I was watching Seth's YouTube video on PE 8, and although he spent a lot of time on Beatscape, it just didn't click.

Also, what genres of music would it work best with?  I write all types, but less Hip Hop and Electronica.  It seems these genres are good with Beatscape?

Thanks

I will try to avoid the value judgments that sometimes come up in regards to loops for compositional use, resampling or re-mix as a genre or whatever ; the fact is that most music that folks claim to be "linear" also has repeating ostinatos  and/or motifs till the cows come home .

It's all about the loops baby !!!  And I don't know if you noticed or not , but the 8.5 installer put 4GB worth of content for beatscape ( yup , in the form of loops !) on your sweet hard drive !!!!

The thing plays back  single shots of samples or loops ( not in super realistical multisample velocity triggered  layers either !! just like an old time beat box = one sample one time  as far as I can tell  ) ; a pad plays a loop or single shot , then  use the edit functions to chop  and mangle ... there aren't a whole lot of rules actually ... Just journey and look for inspiration .  you can listen to a sample thats a multi track version and then take the individual track from that and play.

check the read me in 8.5 and in the BS folder  ( gotta love that  beatscape  shortened = B.S.   !LOL)
