Beautiful scandalous night :retracked

This is a very rough mix. I just wanted to check with you guys if the reverb was too much. I kinda want to give the mix a very rich sounding space. any constructive criticism is welcome! thanks guys! http://soundcloud.com/dennyp/bsn

okay I think i Got this edit thing down not sure

I just got the GAP 73 mic pre and I couldn't help but re-record the bass, guitars, and vocals through it. This thing has gain up the wazzoo! (im pretty sure thats the technical term!) I also took into account the comments from before. the timing is not as tight as the first recording but Im really happy with the results. let me know what you guys hear! http://soundcloud.com/dennyp/bsn2-retracked

Hey, this is really good! Good tune, instruments sounds nice. The amount of reverb is cool for the song and genre IMO.

One thing I'd like to point out - to me the vocals sound a little carved thin. I dunno if you've taken away too much with a high pass filter (sounds like it) or boosted some high mid frequency to bring it forth rather than pushing the envelope. Or if you've used a lousy mic. I'd like to hear a little more beef in the vocals, especially when performed as well as this! Right now they sound like the singer is standing behind the band so to speak. Add some more beef and pull it up a bit. Shoud be nice

But this is a great tune, great melody and a nice arrangement. I enjoyed it none the less! Well done and thanks for sharing!

This song is well played and produced.  You don't really have too much reverb, but you could tone it down and not lose anything.  In fact, if it was me, I'd leave the vocal nearly dry, and just use it on the guitar solo for a little variety.  Still, well done.

    All the best,

Well done. reverb perfect for me. Vocal could come forward a little closer with compressoin and as project M said a little more lower end in the vocal to bring out the male in you!

    Hi,

Great song. Beautiful melody in both the verse and chorus. Great title, too

The vocal performance is great but I agree with the previous posters that it could come up a bit.

Not really noticing a problem with the reverb, though.

Thank you all for the positive responses. all of your coments are useful and appreciated! I wish I could take credit for the song but its actually a modern hymn from an obscure little album from the early 90s. its since been covered by a bunch of people! The first time i heard that melody I was immediately in love with the song! funny thing is I have to re-record the lead vocal. Didn't realize the hipass switch was on in the mic! Good ears guys! no wonder all my vocals been sounding thin!!
