Been awhile - Keyboard Shortcuts?

I've been away from playing for a while and just updated everything and looking to get back to having some fun. I have not played with the latest versions of Sonar Platinum but one simple thing I noticed is that old Keyboard Shortcuts are not working. 
 
A simple example being if I press Ctrl+F6 to select Now and Ctrl+Shift+F6 to select Thru where currently selected it does nothing. Yet if I do it from the menu those are the assigned hotkeys and it works fine. In checking under preferences I see no Keys assigned to these but thinking they were defaults there needn't be any. I also tried loading the provided Sonar Default Keyboard Assignments.Kbn file but that made no difference. 
 
So am I missing something here? I realize the intent is to press F6 and use the selection tool\mouse but sometimes I find it easier. I can reassign the keys but wonder why they are on the menu and do not function as shortcuts?

Thanks. I had read through that though. Unfortunately it has Edit Select but not these particular options which is surprising as they are on the menu.
