Beginner help!! Playback records everything

I know this issue seems to come up alot from newbies but I haven't yet found a proper solution. When I record a new track on CHS, it'll record all previous tracks I recorded straight onto the new track.

I don't have a SoundBlaster card so I can't do anything with a "what you hear" button. My soundcard is SoundMAX. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening other than buy a new soundcard??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

not all 'what you hear' buttons are labelled thus, so have a good look around.

and yes, you do need to buy a new soundcard.

If you're recording with a microphone or from a line-in port , go to the Soundmax mixer. Go to options - properties , select "Adjust Volume for" Recording, select all the volume controls below. Once the new mixer opens, select microphone or line - in instead of wave out Mix.
