Beginner question - recording audio

I'm just learning my way around the software, and I really want to record audio using some of the MIDI possibilities available in P5, but I don't want to be restricted by a pattern.
For example, I would like to record - let's say - four minutes of music from a keyboard connected with a MIDI cable, and using a sound I created in Dimension... but I don't want to have to define a pattern, I just want it to be audio. How can I do that? And if I can't through P5, can I do it using Home Studio XL? ... but somehow using the sound capabilities of P5?

Insert an instrument track and select dimension as your instrument. From within Dimension, select your sound. Now on the track, click the midi button (Round circle) it will turn blue, which will allow you to play your keyboard so that id can be heard, that's basically it. Someone will come along and write a more detailed and beter description, but this will at least get you started.

    Peace

Enjoy the sweet sound of music forever!
