Believe: Another electronica track featuring guitars.

Back to remixing an old tune that i thought needed a thorough going over in the mixing department.

Hope you enjoy. :-D

When I click on your songs, I expect good things, and this doesn't disappoint.  For a moment, I thought I was listening to Radiohead, with their intricate interplay of guitars and percussion, which made me appreciate this piece even more.  You have thoughtful arrangements and a clear mixing scheme that seems to translate very well in my studio.  Keep up the good work!

    All the best,

Like the guitar sound and the bass fits the song perfect. It does seem to be a bit repetitious for a good part of the piece. Maybe some awesome lead in the middle of the piece would give it some added dynamics. Nice and clearly  recorded and lots of added sound bites here and there work out nicely and the lead toward the end could also work at the middle as well. Nice piece of music though. Your second song just started, very nice.

Peace be with you. Blessings, John

I kept the guitar to break out in "Secret Agent Man."  And that is a good thing and liked where the song went.

I really like adding guitar to your electroncia - adds a whole 'nother texture/expectation to your music.  And I like how you use it as just another element, rather than a swagger stick to beat the audience w/.  Tasteful.

Great work John. Enjoyed that. Rich musical textures. Again, a bit even, but that seems to be what you are going for these days. Well done.

Yep it does have somerepetitive parts to it as i  was structured more as an electronica track than a standard guitar-based track. I do like repetition in electronica and i use it to build up tension in a track.

This track is about seven years old and it was the first time i tried anything like it, buti am pretty happy with how it turned out  though.

    Thanks John.

Yeah the levels of some of the guitars could maybe be tweaked here and there, but i had troubles taming some of the guitar parts and had to use a lot of EQ on them and this made mixing more of a pain.   I've settled for the compromise it is now, but i may tweak further at a later date.

Nice one John, really like this. I'd say repetition is part and parcel of this kind of piece, it becomes quite hypnotic.

Thanks Shad. Pleased you liked it.

Yep lately i have been trying to get a more even sound on my tracks, but if i'm honest, i do prefer a more dynamic/less compressed mix, so i'll probably go back to doing that in the future.

Heavy limiting was more of a necessity with this one though to keep the guitar transients in check.  It did sound much more dynamic though before soundcloud's converter got hold of it.

Thanks Frank. Glad you enjoyed.  Pleased you liked the guitars.:-)

I used a really cheap strat copy that i picked up on ebay which was little more than a toy compared to a good strat copy, and i played it through a "Zoom G2" effects processor.   It was all i could afford at the time, but it was quite nice for the money.

You can tell my technique is quite stilted and wooden in this and lacks the fluidity that you and other seaoned guitar players on this forum posess.

I do actually have some conventional rock tracks already written, but i've never got around to record them, but hopefully i'll have a go soon. I've had the riffs written for ages. :-)

    Hi, John,

Very cool instrumental with lots of interesting elements sitting in a nicely textured, fresh sounding modern mix!

I love the crystal clear tone on the reverbed guitars, nice synth work, as always, and the mix sounds really great on my system.

    Excellent work, my friend!
