Beringher X32 with Platinum Fail.
So I have been a cakewalk user since the 90's. I have purchased an X32 and am using it with Platinum, and am due to get updates for life. The problem is that if I record anything beside a bassy track ie kicks, floors, bass etc, the bassist tracks come out with static for want of a better term on them. So in my situation for eg, I have kick channels 1 and 2 on tracks 1 and 2 . If I record both together, they come out with static on them. All the gain structures are correct, no clipping etc. if I disable record on track 2. Kick 1 records perfectly. None of this is audible on monitoring, only on playback. If I move kick 2 to channel/ track 3 and don't record track/ channel 2 everything is fine. I can monitor on track 2 in this case as long as I don't enable and rec tr/ch 2. Been back n forth with beringher for 3 months and even replaced Xuf card in X32. Thought I'd try the original setup ch/tr 1 and 2 with kick 1 &2 etc as it should work with older version Sonar X3 which is still on computer. Guess what - it works perfectly, I've been back n forth between platinum and X3 a few times and each time Platinum fails and X3 works perfectly.. Have submitted problem to Cakewalk and will let you know if solved.. Love sonar, just hope we can get this sorted...

Do you have "Remove DC Offset During Record" enabled? (under Preferences> Audio> Playback and Recording). If so, disable it.

Thanks Klaus, that has worked. I have never looked into what this does, and I feel like such a dill, especially with all the trouble I have gone through with behringher... Working perfectly now. Can someone explain do offset to me?

Glad you got it resolved, Maglashin! With regard to what is DC offset, before I try to explain it in my crude English, here's a quote from Wikipedia: In audio recording, a DC offset is an undesirable characteristic of a recording sound. It occurs in the capturing of sound, before it reaches the recorder, and is normally caused by defective or low-quality equipment. The offset causes the center of the recording waveform to not be at 0, but at a higher value, for example, +1. This can cause two main problems. Either the loudest parts of the signal will be clipped prematurely, since the base of the waveform has been moved up, or inaudible low-frequency distortion will occur. Low-frequency distortion may not be audible in the initial recording, but if the waveform is resampled to a compressed or lossy digital format, such as an MP3, those corruptions may become audible.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_biasA waveform with DC offset would look like this (upper half): If you ever experience this with your recordings, you can remove DC offset from existing audio in SONAR via Process > Apply Effect > Remove DC Offset Best, Klaus
