    RIP Bert.

He gave many of my generation the the initial encouragement to learn how to play.

    A great legacy.

    RIP Bert.

How many of my generation used Bert's 'Play in a Day' book at the start of their musical journey?

Almost certainly many of the British guitar legends we know and love. I am sure they will declare their debt of gratitude to Bert over the coming days after this sad news.

Yes RIP Bert.  I was given the book as a kid with my first guitar by my parents who, even though they had litte interest in guitars or pop music, had heard of Bert Weedon and his book.  Lots of players name-checked him -  Ollie Halsall specifically advocated Bert's picking approach, can't have been too bad then.
