Best 12 months of SONAR ever

Downloading 2016.04 now...

Kudos to Cakewalk for producing a quality product, and getting solid releases out the door month after month. I almost can't remember what it was like before the new development/release process was established... but I know I don't want to go back.

Thank you.

I'm with you...
This past year has been the best for Cakewalk and the Sonar line up.
Taking it all in, I'm very impressed with the "shift".
I remember hearing a lot of negative about the Gibson takeover and I have to admit I was a little worried.
All that's out the window now.
Thank you Bakers!

I agree as well. And the amount of video tutorials has really helped too. Now, if only they could bring back real customer/technical service/support?

Not only do they produce a great product but they are constantly improving it. They listen to us and try hard to implement our feature requests. All that while showing up here and answering our questions.

Cakewalk has a relationship with the membership that other DAW developers can only dream about.

+1000. If you only look at the last 4 months and everything that the Bakers have done with the software. It's just amazing. And if you look at the price you paid in January or maybe another month, I would say that the new LPEQ and the LPMB have given you much more than your money's worth already and there is still 8 months to go.
Fantastic work Bakers.

+1  There are still some features that are on my wish list like an intuitive arranger and the skins that have already been announced from the bakers. I'm lovin' some of the new features that have been implemented over the past year.

I agree.  What I find most fascinating is that we get a chance to look closer at the pace of the work done.  With yearly updates, there was no sense of this, but with monthly updates, you see the staggering amount of work Cakewalk is putting in on our behalf.

Software: Cakewalk by Bandlab; Adobe Audition; Band-in-A-Box audiophile; Izotope Ozone; Encore; Melodyne; Win 10 Pro, 64-bit.

Great year for Sonar, I really like the new features so far, hope they haven't forgotten about developing a chord track similar to the one in Cubase, it sure would be nice for us that are not proficient keyboard players.  I put in a feature request and many others like the idea..........

I agree with you Rocky a great arranger like live's or bitwig's would make sonar the best in the game. I wonder if the current architecture sonar is built on would allow them to do this though. I know that the matrix got them a few steps close to this, but it's still quite cumbersome to work with when compered with what's currently available. But at the rate the bakers are going, I believe they'll be getting to this as well.

Cakewalk has been awesome. It never gets in the way of making music. The addition on Melodyne has completely changed my workflow. I know I'm probably only using a fraction of what Sonar can do but I also know that anytime I ask a question here on this forum, Sonar surprises me with yet another function I didn't know existed! Great work Cakewalk!

Peace!

I agree - this model is much better. No more sudden overload of information to try and learn after a yearly update. 50% of which I would forget for a while under that steep learning curve. This approach helps me become more proficient with the software changes. Plus, I look forward to the monthly offerings!

I appreciate where the company has come from, where we are now, and where the current business model seems to be headed.  I have time to wrap my head around the coming updates and project where I can use the changes, before they hit.  For instance, in this past update - I had a need for mid side EQ processing, or at least thought I did.  When I added the changes, the first thing I did was try out my assumptions.  I had more than enough time to read about mid side processing, and we had the videos to cull through..  In a few words - instant gratification.  Because of the pre-release, I also caught a few concerns and questions...

I could argue that the first year was the best because I was like a kid in a candy shop for months.  Now - I OWN the candy shop...

Take care

I haven't chimed in because probably everyone knows I'm very happy with SONAR, but I think what you mention here is a big deal.

Because I do commercial projects with SONAR, time is money. Some people find the monthly updates disruptive, but I find having to learn a lot of stuff at once much more disruptive than "learning on the installment plan."

As to the future, from what I've been able to glean CW has some very interesting things planned. Stay tuned.
