Best Drum Kit with Brushes

Hi,

I'm trying to get the same vibe as Pat Metheny's *Last Train Home* with drums.  I believe it's just a vamp with brushes on the hi-hat, but I can't seem to find a drum kit that has brushes.  Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks.

My go-to for brushes is Superior Drummer's Roots Brushes, Rods, and Mallets SDX. It's on sale right now too.

    Good luck

Addictive Drums has a "Modern Jazz Brushes" kit (with an accompanying midi pack) that's really good. (my go to for all my drumming needs :))

Several of the Toontrack kits have brush kits as part of.the overall kit. That way you aren't stuck with just a brush kit.

For me it's BFD2 or 3 90% of the time. I have scratched the surface of AD2 but need to dig deeper.

    +1

Off the top of my head, Cocktail, Nashville, Jazz, Claustrophobic and Vintage Rock EZX all have brushes.

They're all good, and, as Sidroe says, are not limited to only brushes.  As well as "sticks" and "brushes", Nashville also has "fingers" - not used that one much, yet..

I like the jazz brushes that Addictive Drums has. But I'm not familiar with what the drums sound like on  "Last Train Home"

Lots of good choices! Of those, I use AD2.

If some loops would work for you instead of a VSTi, consider The Loop Loft's Bundle of Brushes. There are 4 volumes. Perhaps just one would work. These are one- and two-bar loops, mostly, so it takes a bit of work to put something together, but they're some nice-sounding loops.

I esp like the Nashville fingers! After auditioning these, I've noticed a wide variety in quality.  Thanks for all the ideas!
