Best Neighbours Ever...

I don't have many pics or things from my past but I've just retrieved a few going through stuff we'd brought back in September.
 
That's a pic of me on the doorstep of my grand-parent's house, where I was born and grew up. Right across the street from the local cemetery.
 

 
It was a few years before other people started building houses nearby, so it was a rather lonely place to grow up, but I loved it. Most of the time I had the whole cemetery to myself.  
 
Other nearby attractions were the funeral home, the church and a convent.
 
Coolest place to grow up, as far as I'm concerned. :P

    That may be enough to put anyone over the edge, except for the sunshiny day.
    Strange noises at night, eerie weather sometimes during the day, squalls, storms, lightning, etc.
    People going in and out of the cemetery, the living remembering the life of someone who at one
    time was important to him/her/space-alien not thinking they are a space alien on a planet out in the grandeur of the Universe, universes, the death topics, the has-beens, the on-goings, the well, I suppose I should stop there.
    The headstones, the stones of all the deceased, the bugs, the green plants, the living and the deceased.
    Okay, I am out of here.

    Actually, it had pretty much the opposite effect on me. I don't remember being scared of the dead or zombies  - I knew that place was safe, I was always there.
     
    And as a quiet child, the decorum that surrounded funerals matched my temperament much better than every day life around people, so that was one more reason to dig all that stuff.
