Best Price For Sonar X3 Producer Upgrade?

Would someone please be kind enough to direct me to the best price for the Sonar X3 Producer Upgrade? I apologize in advance for what may be a rather obvious posting however but I did email Cakewalk (as per a prior thread I was reading but did not contribute to) and I asked Cakewalk for the better priced emailed upgrade offer, but alas I have not had any response.  I also informed Cakewalk that I was not provided with this email upgrade offer (not sure why).

In any case I appeal to you fine Cakewalker's to perhaps help me out.

That depends on what you are upgrading from, and when. There was a 99.00 Cakewalk email sale offer in March, but I was never clear about to whom it was being offered (I already had purchased X2 and X3 when I got the email), and that sale price has apparently expired. The link in that email now takes me here: http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-CXSP3.00-2RE  Sonar X3 Producer Upgrade from Sonar X2 Producer for 149.00.

Cakewalk distributors (Guitar Center, Sweetwater) seem to be offering the same pricing, but they will provide DVD media. So in that sense they are about 30.00 cheaper than the Cakewalk Store download + media price.

Yes that's pretty much my understanding as well.  I have X2 Producer and read that you might be able to have an extension on the March offer if you contacted them (no response to date though sadly).  I was a registered owner of X2  Producer during the full month of March (and of course still am) but received no notification.

For those that may be interested JRRshop allows a 15% discount from Cakewalk's price of $149 (use code "NEWSLETER15") plus Cakewalk will throw in the CA-2A 2.0 Leveler and ProChannel PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor (available for download after purchase transactions completed for the month of May) so I do not feel entirely abandoned from the earlier discounting.

The only criticism I can level again this discounting process (in a general sense) is that it can be rather convoluted to figure out what the best offer might be at any point in time.  I would expect this with buying big ticket items such as a vehicle or a house or some such sizable item, but Internet shopping (even for small ticket items) gets kinda blurry at times.

Over the last few weeks I've dealt with three RMA's, a bunch of Amazon.com purchases, a bunch of eBay purchases, some Musician's Friend Purchases, and Alto Music purchases, and while all the noodling has allowed me to have warranties honored and much better pricing / availability than wandering into my local music store, it is a somewhat tangled process with each item and each website have a differing set of required criteria.

Oh right, I forgot to add that for a fair amount of the items, I will have to cross the border from Canada to the USA to use an out-of-country shipping and receiving service, because a number of the items I bought either do not ship to Canada at all, or have a sizable surcharge on shipping / handling to Canada.

Plus, I have to deal with the US / Canada exchange rate and the inevitable spread when paying via credit card or PayPal. All in the name of spending money to save money to further my art (or so I tell myself when I'm not listening).

What perhaps amuses me the most is that I know full well when I get all my fancy new toys together and produce my 'art' (such as it will be) there will be any number of people 1/2 my age with 1/2 my gear creating outside my scope of abilities, and in both my case and virtually all the others' cases no recognition for their effort and time will be forthcoming (not that artistic recognition is a requisite for musical endeavors).

Ever buy an airline ticket? I have been on planes where the price paid for the seat on either side of me varied by hundreds of dollars from what I paid in both directions.

The right price from the seller's point of view is the most you can get someone to pay.

If Cakewalk pricing follows the most common pattern over the years, the lowest price will be followed by a higher price with the option to upgrade to the next version free. That is to help the distributors clear out their inventory when customers decide to wait for the next version instead of buying now. It is not in Cakewalk's interest as a seller to let you figure out what they plan to do for pricing in the future.

Funny, as for my last 10 or so music equipment purchases, I got the best deal in a real store. I do my research on line, make note of the prices, then go to the on line site for the local stores to check if they have it in stock before fighting Vancouver traffic., I have done well with both Tom Lee and Long and Maquade and get what I want for very close to the on line prices.. and this saves me shipping as well. It has also been very handy when I have issues and return stuff.

That no shipping to Canada sucks. Musician's friends stupid deal of the day,, when I clicked on it and it said that this item did not ship to Canada, ok,  I live on the border so it's pretty easy to ship it to the UPS depot at the general store. But I could not add the item to my cart. Oh well I'm $35 ahead and I really don't need another mike.
