Best, Simple, Flexible (free?) Sampler for use in Sonar

I want to be able to:

drag and drop sample from anywhere into a sampler
easily change what key plays a sample
play a sample in different piches over the keys of a controller (like in drop zone) but WITHOUT changing the timing of the sample

I have Battery, Dropzone, DR008, Vsampler (not installed)
I've also tried this in SessionDrummer with partial successs

What do you guys (n gals) use?

I use kontakt and you can drag and drop from anywhere into there. :)

I'm also a Kontakt user and have found it to be an extremely capable sampler.  It's abilities come at a cost, but one that I've never regretted making.

I have kontakt, but I only load modules into it.  I'm totally confused about how to use it as a sampler?
I thought Kontakt was like Dimension in that you load sample sets into it.

How do I load samples into Kontakt and determine what key (C3) plays the sample and control it's other attributes?

If you have Kontakt it would be worth it to spend the time to learn it.  I don't sample with it but it is supposed to be very capable in that regard.  Check out the NI Kontakt forum.

Well sheesh you already mention DropZone.

There's no real point in staking out the middle when it comes to soft-samplers. You either are fine with the built-in options (DropZone), or you buy Kontakt and be done with it.

Of course, I suppose you could pick and alternative like Halion or Mach5, but really it's pretty much Kontakt or bust.

I watched the Vid :)
It is like Vsampler that I used back-in-the-day.

Kontakt will do the trick :)

Now I just have to learn
Battery,
Reactor
Absynth
and Massive
