Best acceptance speech at R&R Hall of Fame

Jeff Beck: "...they told me I should feel honored. I'm not. They kicked me out. F*ck them."

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Gotta love Jeff! (ff to 6:45)
Did he not describe his partnership with Rod Stewart as a "love/hate relationship. He loves me, I hate him"?
IIRC Rod was inducted the year of the big quake in Frisco? And Rod couldn't make it.
Jeff was there to do the introduction.
I've searched and haven't been able to fine it...

There's a recently-released documentary about Jeff Beck scheduled to air on Showtime sometime in the next week.  I don't recall the title (I just set the DVR to record it), but it contains "Jeff Beck", so nobody should have any trouble in tracking it down.

If it's 'Jeff Beck: Still On The Run', don't miss it, brilliant documentary. Beck is a unique guitar player, I wouldn't swop him for Clapton, Page & 'The Edge'  rolled into one.

He's the only musician I know who was better at 40 than he was at 30, better at 50 than he was at 40 and better at 60 than he was at 50. I can't say he's better at 70+ than he was at 60, but he's still just as good.

So true. How a guy like Bobby Darin (who is fine for a certain style of pop music) is in there while someone like Robin Trower (not to mention his old band, Procol Harum) is not is incomprehensible.

Don't you need to actually be somewhat famous to be in a HOF though?  Talented as he is, unless you play guitar or are in the tail end of the boomers/leading edge of Gen X, you probably don't know who he is.

It's hard to believe there's anyone above the age of 30 who doesn't know who Trower is. Bridge of Sighs was a gold album. I can think of at least six different songs from it that still get plenty of airplay to this day. The RRHOF isn't for recent acts. I wouldn't expect gen-x'ers to have any idea who the majority of the people in it are.

I think 50 might be a more reasonable cutoff for that.

That's funny because I haven't heard Robin Trower on the radio in years.  Granted, he was on the air a lot in the time when there were no such thing as "classic rock" stations, just rock stations, but I really haven't heard much of his stuff since then.

Now I will definitely agree with you that Bobby Darin is an odd choice, as he never was associated with Rock & Roll as a performer, and I don't see him as much of an influence.
