Best free vst/vsti websites?

I wasn't sure where to share this question, What are the best free Legal VST and VSTI, that are decent, download websites?
Also, are their any free softsynth type players such as tts-1, soundcenter, etc?

    you can find 100's that are average.. look at each year top 10-20 of them, music radar etc.
     
    obvious things like..
     
    synth1 by a japanese dude
    crystal by green oak
    da hornet http://nusofting.liqihsynth.com/freeplugins.html
     
    have been on lists for a long time
     
    and if you use one of the cakewalk things like rapture / z3ta+ etc. there is a sound pack "muz3um" that is nice also

    Tokyo Dawn has highly rated stuff for free and a another version with a the paid for version at very fair prices.

    As far as free VST FX go, I'm pretty happy with the bundled stuff in Sonar.
     
    That said, I have found these two useful:
     
    Voxengo Span Spectrum Analyzer - similar to the analyzer in the Pro Channel QuadCurve EQ flyout

    If you are just curious, the TAL website has a lot of freebies to play around with ... a few of the synths and reverbs are interesting, but never made my go-to list.  Some of them get mentioned on best free VST lists.
