Hi,

Ernest Borgnine, in the film "The Wild Bunch".

I think I better not quote it here as it was said way too well for anyone else to try and copy.

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

With fabulous music by Vangelis in the background, and tears on Roy's face ... and Decker stunned!

One of the prettiest moments in film I have ever seen. So beautifully done, and so poetic!

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Re: Best movie quote ever. What's your choice? 2015/07/25 23:37:00 (permalink)
I lived in detroit from the beginning to mid 1966.

AM Radio: the early 60's, Motown, English invasion,...

Father from Arkansas. Mother from Philadelphia.

Sundays my father cooked pancakes and a bunch of kids came for breakfast, games, and movies.

Bill Kennedy At the movies,... At least three movies each Sunday: including my favorite actor, Wallace Beery.

We watched all the war movies, and all the popular and obscure. (Plan Nine from outer space,....)

My parents did something great at a great time. We watched the shows, and had the records: Sing along with Mitch, liberace, Broadway Shows, Ed Sullivan, 40's swing, big band, Homer and Jethro,....

Every August, we went to the state fair a few miles away. The best part was the 3-4 piece music groups. Especially the Nor'leans jazz dudes. I stood as close as they allowed: Trumpet, trombone, and clarinet. Exquisite.

I have hundreds of special moments connected to wonderful bits of dialog from the teleplays i have watched during the past 58 years. These memories surface without warning: Scene, actors, lines, and music.

Favorite movie quote?  Toooo many. And always dependant upon the context, to be considered great.

One of my most favorite movie scenes: Waking Ned Devine, as the exiting pastor launches the phone booth containing the witch over the cliff, and the violin string breaks. A true moment of rejoicing.

A great movie quote, that.

I always like the single word spoken in the entire Mel Brooks film: Silent Movie.  Marcel Marceau does a great mime scene getting to answer the phone call where he is asked if he wants to be in a silent movie, and his response? "Non"

One of my favorite scenes is the final scene from that same movie, when they're toasting Ned on a cliff overlooking the ocean. A truly great movie all around, even if I can't recall any quotes from it. Anybody who hasn't seen it should surely put it on their to-watch list. Hilarious, sentimental, great plot and outstanding sound track.
