Thanks

Thanks Chappel.  Sorry, I should explained better. I use SPE 8.5 for actual production.  Creator 6 is loop based and what I need is something to generate random MIDI keyboard parts  like Band in a Box but on a higher level.

    Thanks again.

As we are talking about third party software you may get more responses down on the Software section of the forum. There are quite a few BIAB users posting down there who may have something to offer.

What do you consider a higher level? Band In A Box creates some great parts. Do you have some of the additional style disks? Those are much better than the original ones that came with the product. It will also take MIDI files from any song and it will create parts in that same style. Its an incredibly flexible program if you take the time to learn how to use it.

You may want to keep an eye on RAPID COMPOSER.  I've downloaded the free demo, but it's fairly complicated and I haven't done anything with it yet.

    But it looks intriguing.

[<font]Thanks everylone. I have used BIAB box for awhile as a quick idea map, with great results...I just thought that another high end generator to augment my tool kit would be nice. ie: Piano in the style of Bruce Hornsby etc. I posted here because you guys are creative and would most likely understand my question from that point of view.

    Thanks again everyone.

If you use Band in a Box with Real Band to render the instrument waves.... that's a combination that's hard to beat if you can't play the actual instruments.

The quality amazes me at times, both the sound quality and the playing.

BIAB is an incredible tool.  what version have you been using. if it's not a recent (within the last 3 years) version then you have been missing out on fantastic use of "Real Tracks."  check it out.

Thanks guys. I'm using the current version and yes "Real Tracks" are great but I can't use my fav Piano(s) etc. I really like and respect BIAB. I would just like another insprational and creative option.

Please don't use the word "creative" when referring to computer generated music.. something about that choice of word makes me squirm. :)

'Fav piano' was in reply to the comment about 'Real Band' loop portion of BIA, meaning there is no option to change the piano sound as opposed to MIDI.

As far as using the word 'creative' you are right, wrong choice of words I guess. I am an ok keyboard player but when the part I come up with doesn't work and no other player is available or is out of budget I break out BIAB to see if it comes up with something that inspirers me or I can use and usually augment and edit. Thanks

but you can choose to use a MIDI sample piano and a Real Tracks acoustic guitar if you want.  you just have to export the tracks you DO want, whether they are real tracks (audio) or MIDI tracks and then import them into sonar - better yet - the "DAW PLUGIN MODE" allows you to drag and drop the tracks you want into sonar directly from BIAB.
