Sounds really good, Frank. You did some nice guitar work in there! I thought I was listening to George Benson for a minute! :) And Danny did a nice job on the drums. Good mix too. Nice job all around!

Wow.... cool version. So now we know what Danny was doing those rare occasions when he wasn't practicing scales on the guitar..... nice playing by all. But... it also begs the question if Danny has a unique set up for his drum kit..... ? Such as snare where the kick would be, kick mounted up on a cymbal stand..... you know, that sort of thing...... and then he just learned to play it that way? Or, if he uses the standard set up.....

Great question Herb... Maybe Danny will chime in, and enlighten us... somethin' tells me it's not just a standard kit... He sure can whack 'em... Thanks for the feedback...

This was one of the most fun tunes I've ever done. Thanks so much for allowing me to throw some drums on this Frank. I can say I got a chance to jam with you now! It was an honor bro...thanks! LOL Herb....yes, I'm a weirdo with my guitar tuning and my instruments, but believe it or not, the drums are set up normal. I have a monster set of Pearl's that I've had since 1976 or 1977 I believe...somewhere around there.....the first fiberglass kit they put out if my memory serves me right. From there, I just kept on adding on toms and little percussion things....then ludwig toms....it's one of the ugliest mixed kits of all time. But it sounds really good. The only "weird" thing I do would be on my V Drums. I like lots of toms but because I only have 4 tom pads right now, I use the rims as additional toms. So tom 1 has two tom tunings on it, rim and center hit and so on for the rest of them. I don't do this on the floor tom though...he's just a single hit. It does look pretty funny when I play rim, center, rim center, rim center going around the horn. But I'm so used to it, it's part of how I play on the V kit and it's sort of like how I have the real drums set up. But my snare is in the middle between my legs like everyone else and I use a double kick pedal on a single drum. The same pedal for both real drums and the V kit. However, I'm not very good at double pedal stuff...so the things you hear kick drum wise that are sometimes doubles and triples are all done on single foot. I've had the double pedal set up for years, but really never took the time to do anything cool on it other than that "Hot for Teacher" shuffle feel. I'm an old school drummer raised on Danny Seraphine, John Bonham and Neil Peart for the most part. Though I can't play anything remotely close to those dudes, they were who I listened to growing up....Peart being near the end of my playing drums and starting guitar. These days I really love Carter from Dave Mathews and Portnoy...the dude that used to play with Dream Theater. But I can't play anything like them at all...but I try to pick up on little things here and there. They are both way beyond my limited capabilities. But I play enough to get ideas out. I played for about 20 years before I decided not to practice anymore....so I can play a little bit. When I practice, (I played for 2 days straight before recording Franks song because I just couldn't nail down what I was after) I'm not half bad. Anyway, didn't mean to take anything away from the song that Frank did everything on and make it about me, honest. I just threw down some drums. :) Thanks for asking though Herb. -Danny

Danny... (grin;-) No, you're "not half bad"... you are 100% bad to the bone... and a real pro... I'm proud to call you friend, friend... Like I've said before, "you made this tune come alive..." Thanks for weighing in on this... as always, interesting & insightful...

Aww, that's so awesome of you to say. Thanks a lot Frank, that really means a lot to me coming from you and feelings are mutual brother, from the heart. :) One more quick little thing I forgot to mention on the drums....all my real drum kits have DDrum triggers attached to them so I can hybrid in real time and have a midi along with the audio. It's the best safety net we can have these days just in case. :) -Danny
