Better quality drivers than ASIO

Are there any drivers that are better for recording audio than ASIO. I'm not concerned with latency because I am only ripping old records to my hard drive. What I am concerned with is great or as good as I can get sound quality coming in. I am recording at 24/88.2 with my firewire audiophile soundcard please help

well ASIO doesn't have any sound "issues" and 100,000's of users are using it every day (I guess) ... drivers shouldn't add colors (colours;) to the sound of any DAW..don't worry and be happy!

Im not worried at all. But I use reason to create my music and I can't use asio drivers in reason while im programming one song and ripping my vinyl with sonar. I dont use them together because they are totally different tasks. Ive been using Direct X drivers in reason but Ive been having some latency issues I didn't have before when using asio. So Id rather use ASIO in Reason and another driver inside of Sonar if possible. I dont know much about the drivers Ive just always been told taht ASIO drivers are a better quality driver especially for programing midi.

BTW Im doing both tasks at the same time so using 2 different drivers is important for me

But I use reason to create my music

ahhh...why not to mention that on the first post above?

"What I am concerned with is great or as good as I can get sound quality coming in" ...all I see there is SOUND QUALITY concerns

I dont know much about the drivers Ive just always been told taht ASIO drivers are a better quality driver especially for programing midi.

    hmm.."better quality"...not.
and for programming MIDI? who said all that I wonder..

Anyways you are right about the ASIO limitation and I'd suggest not to work on medium to large projects in Reason while recording in another app..
your PC and the soundcard may not be up to it (specs and performance of the firewire and the card's drivers) .. 24/88.2 doesn't help here also.

if any quality is involved here it would be the quality of mutli tasking with the two apps and your M-Audio card working for two apps at once.. ( I don't consider broken sound as a "sound quality" issue..it's something basic that should work 100% before talking about sound quality) ..maybe forget about the whole idea and use Reason not at the same time :)

ive had these issues even when ive used reason standalone without the asio drivers which is why i want to use a different driver. i guess im trying to ask what would be a better driver to use DX or MME so I can do my multitasking. Doing either or takes too much time to do alone.

Just try out different ones, No one has your exact set-up with the same projects and plugins. your going to have to experiment with different drivers and see which one you like better.

Drivers provide performance, not sound quality. That comes from your soundcard and or pre-amps and your performance. you wont hurt anything if you try different drivers

The drivers wont make any difference to the sound. Their job is to provide an interface between software and hardware.

But I use reason to create my music and I can't use asio drivers in reason while im programming one song and ripping my vinyl with sonar.

How and why do you use SONAR for ripping Vinyl?

I guess the correct way to put it would be to say I use Sonar as a sampler. I use vinyl to create soundbanks and to create remixes. As well as slicing loops ill later use in reason. I make hip hop so for what I do vinyl is essential.
