yer... it's not like people have lost their lives / livelihoods or anything... and your worried about the price of memory!!!

sorry but this and the post on another forum with some IDIOT worrying if they will get their nintendo 3ds .. REALLY annoy me!!!  (the polite version)

you don't think this thread is in bad taste ? I ****ing do!!!

Japan is the last place things are manufactured due to the cost of living amongst other things..
lots of it is shipped out and made in china / Taiwan / Malaysia and Singapore .. so your friend isn't clued up as they should be I guess.

it's truly saddened me of very recent events.. and you post such stuff. c'mon GET A REALITY check!!

if you think that's important.. then you really need to re-address what you think is important.

my thoughts are with the people of (and in) Japan.

Okay, let's not get into backbiting each other just because one of us is thinking logically and thinking forward.

I understand that to some it may be a bit soon to talk about the Tsunami's impact on local and world economies, but surely many people are already thinking about the manufacture of all manner of products necessary to our economy, from computer parts and peripherals to automotive components, whole cars, washing machines, and even some of the gear that might reside in our home studios...

Mind you, there is nothing wrong with thinking logically and keeping a level head about you, even though terrible, awful things are happening all around you.  Yes, what has happened is grievous, heartbreaking, and sad.

But if we're not allowed to think logically, then what should we do, walk around in a blithering, jibbering, emotional mess?  You can only cry so much before you run out of tears.  Or simply must attend to other things such as feeding the kids or going to work.  You know; our lives that can, will, and must go on toward whatever the (new) future now holds.

Please understand that we all deal with things each in our own way.  This is not something to be berated for.  The OP was not being insulting or mean-spirited; at least that's not how I read his original post.

The technicians and engineers trying to keep the nuclear reactors cool are most certainly all about logic and the business at hand, even though they may be worried about their spouses and children who may as yet be unaccounted for.  As are the people running the shelters, or the rescue personnel trying to find and save survivors.  These people all have to think and behave far BEYOND the grief that they most undoubtedly feel.

I suggest that we should endeavor to emulate their behavior, even if it is difficult.  Even if it seems like what we are doing in our lives now pales in comparison to what's going on over there.

Curling up in the corner cocooned in one's own grief is not the answer, regardless of whether you are directly involved or if you are safely ensconsed in your undisturbed and very comfortable little home studio thousands of miles away.

If you want to feel better, make a donation.  Learn what you can do to help.  And do consider placing a reasonable limit on your exposure to the terrible images on cable news and the Drudge Report.  I'm not suggesting that you ignore...no!  But limit, so that you can remain useful and productive in your own work and your own ability to help.  Or at least your own ability to meet your current family and financial obligations.

I don't think this post was in poor taste, any more than reporting on rising oil prices due to the uprisings in the Middle East. Lots of heartbreaking stories over there, too.

So buy some RAM, and while you've got your credit card out make a donation to the Red Cross.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You know nothing about me or my relationship with my people in Japan. You might want to get all the facts before you post something like that. Had you asked I would have explained it but since you decided that you know all about my life I don't really owe anyone any explanation for that post i made.  I have been buying parts from this guy for 20 years. They are ALL made IN Japan. I have seen the factory (or at least where the factory used to be). I called him on satellite phone to check on him so don't say I don't care about Japan. I was concerned he may have been swept away with the plant because he works there at that time of day. Fortunately they all heeded the warning and got to taller buildings. This man is my friend. he has stayed at my house here. I was concerned about him and he just happened to tell my what is about to happen in MY business and HIS. So take a pill, get a grip and if you really are that concerned, go and help with the relief effort instead of wasting your time screwing with me.

Why cancel your account? That isn't logical at all. You can just stay away and\or only post when you must.

There are reps from Cakewalk that pop in on a regular basis, but for the most part this forum is a free for all and anything goes.

You must moderate yourself and just ignore the people that are over the top.

I've found the 'Block Member' function to be quite useful.

pity I didn't quote the original text in an earlier message, it's all about context and timing and only tell a "Half" story..

how it came across as "oh it affects me" sorry but thats a crock and crass. I'm sure you have seen the tv footage of it, and thats upsetting.

with regard to any country and mother nature , well it's sad regardless but REALLY don't want to read so quickly after about "money" or "issues that affect me" it means NOTHING compared to bigger picture. (and I doubt I'm the only one who read and thought that)

bit , I'm sure a certain country you visit has been hit with such problems also (and it's not a rich country) and because you visit there you have more an affinity with there. you posted yourself you were worried about there in recent days, if I'm not mistaken. So I find it odd you take such a stance.

Positively , sure there is a time for such things and NOW isn't it.. . or twits on other forums who moan about them not getting their new game console (for an example) . being "logical" is one thing , but sorry that ain't it in my eyes.

Rick , if you get on with the Japanese etc so well surely that makes you even MORE aware of things and money is well not of importance of this time. You noticed I never questioned your relation to there.. solely the content / timing of your message.. I also think it's poor form you quote my message yet don't leave your original one up solely for context.

if you worried about your friend, and you post that without saying about your friend? right.. sorry it just came across as your annoyed you might have to pay a few more $$$ on parts.

In case anybody DOES want to try and volunteer in Japan 2011/03/13 17:30:34 (permalink)
Me and my friends tried to find out if there is a way we can go to Japan and help with rescue efforts or whatever else and got turned down. We were even ready to buy our own tickets. They aren't taking anyone with less than 5 years search and rescue experience at this time. Probably smart I guess. Last thing they need is a bunch of inexperienced folks that might need rescuing themselves. Oh well we tried. It stinks. You just want to do something. Do what we did. Go to the red cross site and donate 20 bucks or more if you can afford it. I'm sure every little bit helps. My last post on this subject. Time to move on.

Are you a moderator? If so just please I'm begging you just delete my account entirely. I am no longer interested in posting anything here any more nor do I care to have any of my posts displayed. If I have a problem I can always come and read stuff here if I need to. Tired of everybody ragging on me. I see posts all the time that have absolutely no business being on this forum at all let alone in the wrong one. It isn't worth it any more. If I want to be ****ed at my wife can do that. It used to be informative here. Now it is just a place for people to complain about Sonar and X1. I've had enough thanks.

Wasn't because of you. Just sick of all the psycho behavior and lack of any kind of decorum. You can't even make a simple statement any more without some nutjob (not you, you are polite) making a federal case out of it. I still want to come here for advice if I need it but won't be trying to post anything. Not worth it.

Electronics of all sorts are going to become hard to get. The ongoing tragedy in Japan is of course the reason and the death count will rise. The OP is right, you might not yet realize how fast the stocks here in the USA will be depleted. That could very well include Roland and Cakewalk gear. And I'm sorry to say, I don't think the earth is done moving yet.

the mods do a good job in this forum and it isnt anything goes, just hit the report button and report them its as easy as that.this isnt gear slutz

Actually it is pretty much anything goes.

The only time I've seen an admin take any kind of action is when they were directly involved and personally didn't like what someone was saying.

so the OP was complaining about the price ofa couple sticks of ram, and then counters with an attempted purchase of a couple thousand dollar plane ticket? this thread is weird.

Are you fuc**ng people deaf or something? I never once COMPLAINED about the price of anything. I merely stated that ram prices are going up so BUY NOW before it gets really expensive. What the hell is so hard to understand. Jesus this place sucks ass.
