Bigass Bandpass also nukes Firefox somehow?
I didn't mean to trash the browsers. Only near-field monitors. I'l bet it's those PGD [code] tags. I started using them with the Scala file postings, because leaving that out appended leading spaces to the file. Then it wouldn't work with direct copy/paste from the post. Can't win for losing here.
Chad, you're right about Wordpad; works great for viewing the .sfzs correctly. I keep using Notepad for two reasons: I figure that's the tool that most will reach for first, and I have it stuck in my head that this particular WYSIWYG editor will present the fewest surprises in the results. I've got a ton of text editors here; I suppose that I should either use them or lose them.
As for the *idea*: I've been toying around for some time with MIDI messages generated in cyclical shapes. That kind of versatile auto-source is something that I miss from z3ta+. You're all set if you intend to control pitch, cutoffs, etc. But what if you want to fade Drive and Decim in & out, or crossfade the Pitch StepGen Depth with Detuned ring modulators? I
can't be the only one doing this. Er, ... can I?
It's easy enough to draw triangle, ramps, and even random (locked to tempo and quantized) in automation. But without having a node-based automation system [here], the smooth curves are difficult at best. So I dug out the old Cakewalk SpectraFX and Petertool's LiveSet. The first will generate fairly smooth curves (finish it off with the Smooth parameter in the Matrix). It produces an X and Y parameter that can each be re-assigned to MIDI messages.
There's a MIDI LFO in Petertools that'll generate two sets of all of the common waveshapes, and adds random level & duration, like sample & hold. [Octopus should probably be on this list for it's MIDI EG's.] No re-assignment needed, and the waveshapes directly control anything in the MIDI Matrix. Now both plugins are getting pressed into service for external cyclical control over .sfz file opcodes. Unless ...
