Bit Rate?

Upgraded to MC6 from MC4. Having issues with bit rate (maybe) on export. I bounce tracks, the export as wav. Selecting "CD Quality" which presets at 44.1k/16. Can open and play this wav file in Windows Media Player. However, trying to burn to CD and get an error that it i not a valid file type. Noticed that the properties of wav file is 24bit. Selected Dithering pull down on next attempt and there are no options. Verified again that "CD Quality" defaults to 44.1k/16. Tried again, same result. I've been having this issue since I upgraded. Please help.

Interesting... I need to burn a few disks soon so I will check that out.  I have not had any disk burning problems in the past that I can recall but I will have a look.

If you export to 44.1/16 it should burn without issue.

Maybe it's the burning program? Are you trying to burn in WMP?  I use Roxio.

Using Roxio as well. Never had a problem before until using MC6. It's very frustrating. Tried using a converter program, just for sh!ts and grins. It complained about the format as well.

hummm.... if the need to burn is pressing simply reopen in MC4 and export there and burn... have you tried that until the solution is found?

I have MC4,5,6 and X1 essentials... I have never used MC6 to export for a burn but I will try that today. I have a few tunes that need to go on a cd.

OK... here I is.. a few hrs later....

I opened MC6 and then opened 2 projects I created in X1.... they opened and played fine in MC6.

    Select all the tracks
Use the Export Icon at the top

Use export preset CD Quality. It said 44.1/16

after naming it and choosing the desk top for destination I clicked on EXPORT.

The files ended up on the desktop just fine.

I opened in Wavepad and used it to trim the files.... intro count in... and then normalized it to 98%.

I saved it as wave. PCM Uncompressed again at 44.1/16 stereo.

open Roxio and drag both files into the Create Audio Disk screen.

pop in a CD and click burn.

First time something went wrong.... it didn't complete the burn.

Second time.... used a new disk, click burn.... 2 minutes later I have  a finished disk.

Currently checking the disk in my studio's Sony CD player and it sounds good. It was a bit distorted sounding at first but ..... I had the headphone volume on 10..... I backed it to 5 and it's good.

So it seems to work just fine.... planning to burn another different disk.... if anything glitches I will let you know.

Update on this: I mixed a few songs this weekend that we recorded. Mixed them in MC6, went through the mixdown process as "CD Quality", which shows that it will be 44.1k/16. Went to add that wav file to Roxio...."Invalid Audio Format", same problem I've been having. Reinstalled MC4. Imported the above mentioned wav file into new project. MC4 shows it as a 44.1k/32 bit file. 32 bit? Where the hell did that come from? Exported from MC4 as 44.1k/16. So I have a work around. A pain in the ass workaround albeit. Why is MC6 exporting as 32-bit?

look in the project audio settings and global settings and be sure you are recording at 24 bits and not some other weird number. That may be affecting the export bit depth.

You can record at 16 or 24 bits... but 24 is the preferred number to use.... and I think you can record at much higher bit levels too..... but stick to 24.

Its something in the settings..... because if you reinstalled MC4, it would reinstall to default settings and that works fine..... so in MC6 your settings are off.
