Bitbridge 2 Server Config
OK, I give up. Where's the Producer menu item to config the Bitbridge Servers?

It is on the Global Options thingy under VST plugins. Select the folder defaults button. I am having a hard time figuring out what is what.
Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

That doesn't look like a dialog that allows me to configure any one plugin to separate servers. The Help file is pretty useless too. This feature could do with a lot more transparency. BTW loading iLOK plugins using the Cakewalk version of the Jbridge wrapper will cause auxhost, then Bitbridge, then Sonar to crash.

If you go to Global options>Vst Plugins and click the help button I think you will find what you are looking for. You can select a specific Bitbridge server or leave it automatic. If you select a server all vst's loaded after you select will be assigned to that server. then you could go select a different server and load more vst's.

So the way it works is that before loading a synth or plugin into the FX bin, you have to go to Global Options/VST, then choose a Bitbridge server, then load the plugin. That's really kludgy. It should ask on load, and then learn intelligently. For example, to load Omnisphere into server 8, you pull up the Synth Rack, then go to Options/Global/VST Plugins, select your server, close the dialog, go back to Synth Rack, load Omnisphere. Then, just to make sure, go back to VST Plugins to check that your server has been used. If you had that option during load, you would be able to skip a couple of steps there. Also, the help file claims that server config is kept in save files in the project. They're not. I just loaded Omnisphere into server 8, saved the project and reloaded, and Omnisphere had been automatically assigned to Server 1.

Hi Paul, How much RAM do you have? You don't normally assign each plugin to seperate servers. By default its set up so that when one server overflows 2GB it will automatically load the next server. If you really want a plugin to go to a specific server you must first select the server you want in Options | Global | VST. Then the next instance you patch will be loaded into the server you chose. Regarding jBridge we don't ship a specific wrapper in SONAR - we directly call jBridge. jBridge doesn't support PACE yet - ANY jBridge issues should be directly reported to the developer. All SONAR does is provide the integration.

The server configuration is saved. The server numbers are just ID's. If you use server 1 and server 8 only 2 servers are actually used since you never loaded up 3-7. Therefore when you load the project next it uses two consecutive servers. As I indicated earlier you generally do not need to specify servers explicitly unless you want one plugin to live in its own server.

Hi Noel I have 16GB. I was hoping I could put a plug directly in the upper echelons so that if I loaded up 12GB with samples using x64 samplers like Play or K3.5 then it would be very unlikely to conflict. And then was hoping that that particular plug would be remembered to always be placed in those addresses. Omnisphere is a bit of a memory hog so that's the obvious one to give its own permanent space. I already knew about Jbridge as I've been using it for Kick Ass Brass. Bitbridge handles iLok transparently, as you know. Although the automation still isn't being read by the Soundtoys Native pack. But you know about that Well done on getting V-Vocal's pitch to midi to work at 88.2 and 96KHz, btw.

Do you guys actually make any music - or is it just a hobby involving bits and bridges? I'm guessing the latter.

Sure. 4th album coming out soon. Just tying up the contract details with the record company. Today I'm just messing around with 8.5 while some videos render for my petroleum company client.

Hi Noel! =) Can't Cakewalk setup a page on there site for more overall in depths technical information, How/When/Why? I'm sure many more then me like to read and get more hard facts about SONAR and the technonlogy that's in use under the hood. Regards Freddie
