Blaine - 53mph

Hey guys! I've recently been remastering my old vinyl releases using Sonar's mastering tools, especially the L-phase EQ.
I've also been using Landr's excellent and easy release system to put them up on i-tunes and spotify.

    I like your song writing. Actually I don't know if you're doing most of the writing or not since you have so many people listed, but the songs have catchy, big open phrasing and good lyrics. Reminds me of Marshall Crenshaw, one of my favorite song writers.

    Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to put Marshall Crenshaw on my Spotify playlist!
    Yeah! all the people listed are performers, not co-writers. I kind of messed up when I filled in the Landr publishing details. The band name is 53mph, but I'm the sole-songwriter and singer. Not to say that the other guys didn't add alot to the composition and general sound. In fact, it was a folk song until they got their hands on it. ;)

    I've never had a vinyl cut, so, I am intrigued... How did you get a WAV into SONAR to work on?
     
    I know you can get devices that allow you to route your deck, via RCA/Phono, and into your PC, but I really don't know what I am talking about... Never tried it...

    Hi Synkrotron,
    I didn't need to route my decks to Sonar as I already had the track in wav format.
    I recorded it in a studio in London way back in 2001, but we originally mastered it for vinyl. As vinyl was not the best format for dealing with BIG bass sounds (the needle jumps around in the groove), the original mix was quite bass poor for that reason. I just went back to the original wav mix (burned onto CD) and remastered that. My intention was to get a bigger, bassier sound for the internet age using Sonar's mastering suites. I'd originally tried using Landr, but was not so convinced. It sounded a bit light on the bass. I hope I got the required balance.
    So, I'm afraid I can't really answer your question. ;)
