Blast from the past - Collab on an original from 1987

This song was written by Mooch in 1987. It was the first song he ever wrote.

Paul (Mooch) played guitars, my son Jason played drums, Grant sang, played the solo and harp. I played the bass and did the mixing (I hope I achieved that vintage vibe with a dash of that modern sound all the kids are talking about).

Listen to Roots of Rock and Roll

It was fun. Thanks to Paul for including me in on this.

Great job guys... definitely hit the vintage vibe thing dead on.  Strong performances all the way around, and some really fine vocalizing by Grant.  Gee, are there any instruments Jason doesn't play?

Reminds me of The Animals, The Hollies, and The Fabulous T-Birds...like they all got together and formed a jam band. I really like it. Very cool tune and feel. Great Job.

I love the mix on this, by far the best sounding effort by you so far, I know you've been studying and working very hard on your craft and it is really starting to pay off handsomely.

Nice panning and instrument separation all combining to make a really good overall sound.

I'm not blown away by the tune but it has a nice 'garagey' type vibe that is pulled off nicely by all the players here.

    This is the good stuff.

@philz - Thanks for stopping by. I think Jason refuses to play the kazoo.

@Scotty - thanks for putting that baritone down long enough to take a listen

@Jeff - That would be some band, eh?

The Booch Bouy's rock man.  I love this - 1960's all the way. I could see the gogo boots and mini skirts doing the Swim to the Booch Bouys.

      This sounds great!!!!

I have always been a big Buddy Holly fan and this reminds me of a few of his type of song's in that genre.  I mean that as a compliment BTW, I'm just saying it has that same kinda vibe feel to it.

    I thought this was AWESOME!!!

You should do a part 2 to this, perhaps a modernized version.

Whatever the case I enjoyed hearing this.

Excellent work by all of you Bapu, Grant, Paul, Jason!!!!!!

This sounds like it was a lot of fun - loads of influences in there and the whole thing has a familiar sound to it - not sure if its any one song in particular or just because you made it sound so authentic of that era, but the riff seems very familiar. Anyway, Well done to all.
