Bluegrass/Country Rock Instrumental.
Hi, It's been a few years since I've mixed anything so any suggestions on this mix would be greatly appreciated. I used EZdrummer for the drums and recorded everything else myself. Thanks! https://soundcloud.com/ka...boys/rockin-hootenanny

Tom, sounds mighty good, but IMO could use a little more separation on the instrumentation. Some of the various instruments seem a bit loud and the drums seem lost in the background a bit. This can all be fixed with a few moments of time in your Sonar Platinum applying a few tweaks here and there. Some nice jamming going on in this one and hope to here it again soon. Peace and Blessings, John

Thanks John, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe a little more eq work.

I just listened again and yes some eq tweaks and maybe some additional panning to spread things out a hair here and there. Just a few minor adjustments to try and find that final everything is in balance and all instrumentation isn't competing with one another any where in the piece. But still some great jamming going on in this piece. I like it!! Peace and Blessings, John

Thanks guys.. I'm going to re-mix and spread things out a bit and see what I can do EQ wise.

I like the song. Your playing is perfect for this style. The mix seems muddy and jumbled. In the middle of the song when there are fewer instruments the mix sounds a lot better. Have you worked with panning each instrument to a different place in the stereo field? The other thing I would suggest is to work with the analyst Plugin on each instrument so you can see which frequencies they are most prominent. Then begin to work on each to bring out the sound that they need.

Wow you've got some rockin' bluegrass going on! You're picking is off the charts. As has been said some panning and finding parts of the song to let one or two of each of the parts to shine by either lowering the volume of the others or muting different parts at different times. Like you did at the 1 minute and 2 minute marks Great jam!

Nice! Not much to add to the above - the song and performances are really good. A few mix tweaks for better separation should let those performances really shine.
