I'm a proud owner of band-in-a-box :) .. but I liked how the EZkeys work as vsti.

How does it work.. do you need a main EZkey first, then add on with the blues ?

If I drag in some midi files (pianos) generated by biab, will Ezkey tweek them (the various chords, etc..) ?

EZkeys can import standard midi files and then allow you to change the chords.  EZkeys doesn't have any sort of artificial intelligence so any embellishments to the chords with passing tones and the like will affect the results.  You have to try things out and see if they work.

I see it has 4/4 and 6/8 and from the the Toontrack audio demos it looks like some slow blues, piano blues, jam, boogie and jazz.  I am interested in getting this, but would still like to know how many variations there are with this Blues add on for EZkeys.

There is a review here :
    http://www.musicradar.com/gear/all/computers-software/virtual-instruments/ezkeys-grand-piano-537039/review

So, each EZkey pack basically comes with :
    a) a sampled piano sound
    b) midi style files

    is this correct ?

How about the blues EZkey.. does it only come with midis ? since the price is lower ?

edit : does it only come with just midi files (no new sampled sound) ? since the price is lower..

Hoping to get a better insights from someone using it. Thanks!

There is only one piano IIIRC in EZKeys. However there are "presets" to alter that piano flavor.

You must buy EZkeys. IOW you cannot just buy the packs.

And, the packs are not truely MIDI files. They are patterns that are in proprietary format for use within EZKeys. Once you have chosen the patterns (and key) and have made chord changes you can export that song/pattern as MIDI into a SONAR (or other host) MIDI track and further manipulate it (outside of the scope of EZKeys "editor").

Once exported, you can choose to use another piano of choice (say Ivory, Alicia Keys or even EZKeys) as a simple VSTi driven by the now actual MIDI.

As a base product you need the EZ Keys that comes with either a Grand Piano or Upright piano sound, and a chunk of midi files in different styles.

In addition to that you can buy:
    * Upright or grand Piano Sound expansion
    * Pop/Rock midi files (works only with EZ Keys but midi  files can be dragged from the VSTi to your normal DAW to be used with another VSTi if needed)
    * Gospel Midi files (as above)
    * Blues Midi files (as above)

I just picked this up along with the Blues pack, and it looks like it's going to be very useful.  By the way, Groove3 has a video for $14 that explains everything pretty well if you are having trouble getting started.

    leapin,

I used this product, back in the first month of it's release, on one song.

Very useful for me and if I did not have access to my mate Daryl1968 I'd be using this product a lot more.

I purchased this product this afternoon.  Now I will wait for the serial number, but its the weekend, so I expect not to get it till Monday.  Hope it is as good as the midi that came with the Grand package.
