Bohemian Acid Blues
Hi folks, long time no stop by. My bad!! I've been busy with life, yadda yadda. But still doing music weekly, and finally got off my butt and published something that my buddy Paul and I had been working on for quite some time. Anyway, it's called Bohemian Acid Blues, and I'd love to know what you folks think of it. https://soundcloud.com/arcanor/bohemian-acid-blues?in=arcanor/sets/collins-frick-album-2 Thanks! I'm gonna go spend some time poking around here on the forum to see what fantastic stuff you've all been doing recently. Walt

@montezuma - Thanks for listening! Yes, that's me on lead and rhythm guitars (played on my Stratocaster, and processed with NI Guitar Rig). I used presets (slightly modified) "Sultans of Pop" for the lead, and "Country Twang Taped" for the rhythm guitar. @wookiee - Thanks John! We certainly had fun with it, and glad it was able to get your paws tapping. :) @daryl1968 - Yeah man, it's cool! Thanks for the listen. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up with you and the Mrs. before you left western NY. But I hope you're doing well in Wales! Things are great here. Pressing forward on creative endeavors, in (possibly futile) hopes that they might become something more. Daughter is graduating a year early from college, this coming May. :)

@bjornpdx - Thanks for the kind comments Bjorn. I'm no guitar virtuoso, but I have fun playing, and I love to do bluesy improv. @biodiode - Thanks Adrian! I do try to create some space in my mixes by panning most instruments, each to a unique space on the virtual stage.

@wayfarer - Thanks for the encouragement! Spoken like a true guitar guy. :) But for this song, we're going for a more laid back groove. @Makke - Thank you for listening and your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it! @cwestmont - Much appreciated! As far as mixing goes, I try to help individual tracks stand apart from each other by making them unique in various ways, including EQ, pan, wet/dry FX, and just plain old muting of tracks in different places throughout the song. I think of "space" as a precious commodity to be conserved when mixing. It's easy to add new ideas to a music production in development. It's harder to subtract from what you've added, and requires a bit of ruthlessness. ;) But I've made it a part of my mixing process, and I think it really helps to give clarity to the final mix, and forces me to make choices about which melodies and rhythms will carry the song at every point along the timeline.

Like I said, you have a good ear Walt. The mix and sound quality is top notch, and I can dig the feeling in your guitar playing, so you are not so shabby in that area as well. Although I don't know what part Paul played in all of this, the same credit given, as this sounded good all over.

@auto_da_fe - thanks for the listen, JR. Glad you liked it! As for "ending", I thought the forums and servers were going to be continuing on into the future indefinitely? Sure, some people may be switching from the Sonar DAW to other alternatives, but that doesn't mean this community ends. Personally, I've not used Sonar as my DAW for years now. But this community has always been supportive of members coming back to post here. Now there'll just be more of us posting as Sonar "expatriates".
