Books to help you out in setting up to record

Just thought I'd throw a few book titles out that would help the newbie on their recording efforts. Most of these can be purchased at Amazon in the used section for less than list price.

The Recording Engineer's Handbook by Bobby Owinski $34.95

Modern Recording Techniques, 6th Edition by David Huber and Robert Runstein $50.95. I've had various iterations of this book over the years. I just picked up the 6th edition and found it to be very relevant.

The Mixing Engineer's Handbook, 2nd Edition by Bobby Owinski $34.99

And one free one that I suggest for anyone trying to optimize a Vista or XP machine for use as a DAW. The Line 6 Windows XP & Vista Audio Tips & Optimizations.

For the most part you can find these books for a lot less if you go to the used section of Amazon.

    Nice work Doc

Judging by the titles, I gather the two Bobby Owinski would make a good set mate!

Would you recommend getting all three though?

Yes I would. They make a good companion set. I was bit perturbed in finding my copy of Modern Recording Techniques was missing. Made me have to shell out $43.00 to replace it.

I'll have a scan round Amazon and E-Bay tomorrow.

I'd also add the excellent PC Recording Studios For Dummies as a good all round read on the subject.

I say Peter old bean - it's called 'bumping' - 'tis a way of sending an important or interesting thread back to the top of the forum.
