Bose T1 ToneMatch mixer not being recognized by Cakewalk X1 Essential

I'm new to X1 Essential, but have been using HS7XL and MS2002 before that.  I want to record a guitar track, and am plugged in to my Bose T1 ToneMatch mixer, connected to my PC (Windows 7) via usb.  I have a midi bass and drum track, and want to add my guitar track, then my voice afterwards.  I get no sound from my T1 in Essential.  I added an audio track, set it to the USB Audio for the input, and set the output to a bus (Bus1), just like the other two midi tracks.  No sound or meter movement when playing.  I get a message:

"Unable to open audio record device.  Device may not support the current project's audio format or may be in use.  For help, please visit ...."

I'm not sure what to check.  I still have Cakewalk 7XL installed.

Help please.

Thanks,
Dave
