What's the problem? It should work as long as you have Cakewalk set to transmit MIDI clocks and the right MIDI port selected (should be one unless you have more than one MIDI interface. Go to Options-Project-Midi Output.

    thanks for responding.

In my younger days, I did a lot of midi in my roland synthezizers. I had Roland Juno-106, Roland W-30, and still have my Roland d-50 and bought myslef a RD-600 too. So I guess I should be cabable of making this if someone gives me a bit of help.
You see its the first time I making music on computers.

I have a Soundblaster 1024 Live Digital card.

well, I have several midi options in Options - Midi DEvices - Out meny, and I dont know what to choose.

    these are:

    "SB Live! MIDI UART"
    "Microsoft Midi"
    "A SB Live MIDI syntheziser"
    "B SB Live MIDI syntheziser"

    so what to pick?

I believe SB Live! MIDI UART is for a external MIDI device connected to the SB Live's MIDI port.

These two are probably softsynths built into the SB card.

I don't know what the Microsoft Midi is. What version of Windows are you running?

If you are planning on running your keyboard via midi you might be able to drive your DR-700 from your midi thru from your keyboard.

I run my midi send and receive from my sound card to my Proteus, then my DR-5 from that. I use my keyboard or cakewalk to trigger my DR-5.

I am using Windows Xp. 512 mb ram, and 2 ghz cpu.

the Microsoft midi is called microsoft midi tilordning in Norwegian.

I believe its called microsoft midi mapper in english.

Then don't use it since Microsoft MIDI Mapper does not work with Home Studio.

Have you read the DR-770 manual? You have to set it up to receive MIDI clocks or as a slave unit. Home Studio MUST be the master clock.

The HS2002 setup is pretty straightforward: Option-Project-MIDI Out-Check Transmit MIDI Start/Stop clock and select the correct MIDI port (if you have more than one MIDI interface.) Try port 1, 2, 3 and 4 and see if any of those work.

How is the DR-770 cabled to your computer?

I have a midi interface (its just a cable with a game port in one end and a midi port in the other).

This is conected to my game port on my soundblaster Live 5.1 Digital and into my in or out port of my drum machine.( have tried both.)

does someone have possibility to actually try this?

If the DR-770 is similar to the DR-5 you need to go to the Utility area on the DR-770 and change it from INIT to MIDI in order for midi signals to drive your machine.
