Bought Melodyne Editor and SONAR Pro seems to want to update to Essential

I have purchased and been using Melodyne Editor for well over a year now, and bought into SONAR Professional a couple of weeks ago. My panel shows, however, that I need to <Update> my copy of Melodyne Essential, essentially (pun intended) a downgrade. I have just done my updates so far by 'a la carte' one module at a time to avoid that upgrade, but it is a PITA. If I just hit the <Upgrade All> button, am I going to have to go backand re-install Melodyne Editor every update?

Similarly, I have installed lots of Addictive Drums modules that aren't through Cakewalk...the Addictive Drums 2 button still shows red...will it overwrite all my installs and push me to do the AD update as well.

I would not bother with an update from C3. If you were to do so all you would need to do is use the serial number from your editor copy to upgrade it. AD2 is updated and kept up to date via its own software center. You can ignore C3 if you wish.

Hi,
Command Centre gives a convenient way to update. But if you want to bypass that you can, in most of the cases.
I also have Melodyne Editor. If you already installed MelEdtr then you can simply ignore the red mark beside the MelEss. You need not to install/update that.
If you have already updated MelESS then also you can reinstall MelEdtr and that will become active.

If you don't like the red marks appearing every time in Command Centre, I think there is an option to hide the updates from the list.

Thanks

Yeah, that's what I would do - right-click > hide.

Hiding these items is a good idea. Both Celemony and XLN have processes in place to maintain their software. Hiding items in C3 also makes the update scan go faster because there are fewer items to check.

Restoring hidden items is easy. They are displayed on the C3 settings screen and will restore to the active list when unchecked from the hidden list.

I also noted the change. Don't really know what the differences are. Is it really a downgrade that the cake's gave us🌜

Melodyne Essential is a scaled down version, though lot of things can be done in it.

Cakewalk gives this free.

If you want full/higher version you have to buy from Celemony .

Is it for certain that Essential 4 is a downgrade from Editor 2?

Yes, Essential is not polyphonic, Editor is.
The DNA algos have been upgraded in Essential 4 but for me the lack of polyphony is a deal breaker. I upgraded to Editor 2 years ago and just upgraded to Studio 4.
Studio 4 is simply amazing.
Audiodeluxe has Editor2 to Studio 4 upgrade for like $126. I strongly advise paying the extra $26 for Studio 4 if you are considering an upgrade from Editor 2.
From Celemony...
Essential 4 to Editor 4 is $99. This gives you polyphony.
Editor 2 to Editor 4 is $99.  This gives you algo updates and GUI enhancements.
Any Editor to Studio 4 is $149. THis gives you harmonic /EQ editing plus really nice tempo editing, GUI enhancements and multitrack capability.
Check AudioDeluxe or JRRshop for discounts.

Thank you Microapp for the comparison. I was about to post a query on that.
I am thinking for the time being I will keep $99 for SONAR subscription. Your comparison chart made easier for me to decide. I have Melodyne Editor2.

You are welcome.
If you don't want to spend any cash on this right now, definitely keep Editor 2.
If you don't want the Essential 4 red light nagging you in Cakewalk Command Center, just right click it and choose 'hide'.
People who never upgraded to Editor 2 will not lose anything by an upgrade to Essential 4 so go for it in this case..
If you have upgraded to Editor 2 DO NOT upgrade to Essential 4. It will overwrite your Editor 2 and you will have to reinstall then re-authorize Editor 2.

Thanks for the info.   I have a full Studio version of  Melodyne and seem to have constant problems with the free version supplied with Sonar trying to substitute itself for the full version.    At the moment, with Melodyne 4, nothing works!    Hoping to resolve soon ...

Very helpful info.

Microapp, do the  Melodyne 4 Studio features work within the Sonar ARA integration?  I have Melodyne 2 Editor and am about to upgrade - and the ARA integration has been a huge workflow plus.
