Bounce to Track question re: latency

Hello All, If I'm bouncing down a track in real-time(no fast-bounce), with no audio enabled, does it make a difference what my latency slider is at? I'm wondering if Sonar performs this task better with a specific setting, or if it handles the bounce down with priorities of its own...Just want to make sure I've got things set correctly and optimized if I need to. Thanks.

I think latency is just the delay to played notes so it shouldn't have any effect on bouncing.

Sonar automatically looks after all issues related to latency, that's why it tells you what your latency is.It keeps track of it and calculates how tracks are played and recorded from there so you do not hear it. I have never had to change it's settings. Round trip Latency only comes into the picture when you are trying to monitor while recording AFTER the signal has passed in and out of your computer. If you want to double check that this is working, patch your interface outputs back to the inputs and re-record a transient drum track. Put the two tracks together and zoom in to check if they line up at the peaks. You could test your bounced track by placing it next to the original and zoom in.

Chris is correct. Latency generally won't be an issue during bounces (with certain rare exceptions). As long as all the sources are inside SONAR, you can set latency as high as necessary to avoid dropouts. Just don't do other stuff on your computer during the bounce, like running a defrag on your disks to pass the time. Solitaire is OK, though.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks for the responses...I'm not having problems...it's just that I wanted to know if something was obvious and I was still missing it. Thanks again.
