Bounce to Tracks is followed by Sample Rate Conversion

I don't remember seeing this in the past.

I'm working on a project that is 24 bit 48.

I do bounce to tracks and the progress bar moves across as it bounces.
Once done, it goes across again much more quickly saying 'Sample Rate Conversion'.

Why is it doing this?

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Maybe it was because I was bouncing Busses instead of bouncing Entire Mix? Nope... never mind.

hi Gswitz, would guess your project has audio in it that has other sample rate than what you have set in Preferences / Audio / Driver Settings.
Maybe this sample rate was changed some time ago ?
(I checked and did not get the sample rate conversion message when bouncing to tracks/entire mix).

or perhaps the bit depth of any of the clips/tracks you're bouncing is not as the render bit depth you have set....and it displays 'sample rate conversion' but actually is changing bit depth ? dunno :)  you'll find it sure Lee.

So, it's true that I created the project from an old project for the same band that was at a different bit depth.

But, I delete all Audio every time I start a new song. I delete it from the audio folder too.

I delete everything... all envelopes... all clips.

Then I paste in the new tracks. The bit depth on the control bar says 48 which is correct.

I don't get errors when pasting in audio from the parent project which is also at 48.

"The bit depth on the control bar says 48"...I assume that's a typo. Either that or you're in ProTools HD circa 1999. :)

I doubt it's actually doing a sample rate conversion. SONAR's pretty flexible when it comes to bit depth, but sample rate must be consistent throughout the project. More likely, it's calling a conversion function that handles both SRC and bit depth, and that function is merely padding the audio to 32 bits because your render bit depth is set to 32 (the default).

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Idk what it's doing.

I'm guessing some of the plugins (Melda+Others) are doing something.

Yes, I meant 48 sample rate not bit depth.

I feel sure this will go away once I stop working on this project. It must be that I used a 96K project as a template for this 48K project.

Check the waves info before and after a bounce and see if the wave specs change. This can be done in Sonar or folder props.

    Great question, Soens.

The answer in the the Audio Folder is that for my bounces (for each one) there are 2 wave files. One is 96K and one is 48K. The project is at 48K.

For some reason, the bounces happened at 96 and were down sampled to 48 after the bounce.
