Bounce to Tracks

This should be easy. but it is not.
 
  • I want to mix down several vocal tracks to a single stereo track for ease of mixing—one voice on each track to create a choir.  I will save the original tracks but want a single stereo mix.
  • When I choose bounce to tracks, I get the same number of tracks I started with.  8 individual voice tracks end up as 8 bounced tracks, which is completely pointless. What I want is one stereo track with a mix of the 8 voices.
What am I missing?

    This is so stupid.  I get the first track bounced down to one track, the second track bounced down to a second track, etc.  How does that help?

    In bounce to tracks make sure that the source category is set to entire mix.  This will bounce every track and effects that you have selected into one track.  It sounds like you have it set to tracks.

    The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

    Yes, I did have it set to tracks.  So, I guess I want to pick ENTIRE MIX and then mute anything I don't want bounced.

    You can also select Main outputs (in source category). Then select Stereo (in the Channel Format field) then select your MB.

    You don't have to mute everything you don't want included, just select the tracks that you do want included and SONAR will only include your selected tracks, automatically not including everything outside of your selection.

    Or, if all the vocal tracks feed a single bus, select Busses in the Export Dialog and pick the one you want.

    Why not just use a bus or an aux track for all the vocals you want to control together at mixdown?

    That's what I do. It also allows tweaking parts of the vocals (or multiple instruments) since the original tracks can be easily adjusted.

    I use buses for everything (e.g., keyboards, orchestra, guitar, drums, vocals, choir, and even bass) but that does not help performance when I have a full orchestra, a full rhythm section, solo instruments, sound effects, and 20 voices.
     
    I want to mix the choir into two stereo tracks and archive all the individual tracks.
     
    The solution above is working.
