Bounce to clips problem
Hi all! I'm having a problem when I bounce to clip any wav file that is a trimmed clip, v-vocal edited clip, or a melodyne edited clip.... what takes place is the levels after bounce is boosted, sometimes to the point of peaking. Its not just a melodyne glitch, but any wavs that are bounced to clip. I thought for some reason that maybe an effect in one of the bins was causing it, but after shutting all effects down, it still did it, I even reinstalled latest video driver thinking maybe that's the problem, but no. I did an over install of the program, but it still is doing it. This problem just started and I'm probably missing something, so I came to the expert forum advisers for help. Everything was , and is working great, just this problem popping up. I have a powerful computer with windows 7, the latest drivers and plenty of memory. I'll try to post some before and after pics later. Thank You for any help. Michayl

Just to be clear, this happens only on a trimmed clip?. If the clip is untrimmed, then the problem doesn't occur (whether you have used Melodyne/VVocal or not)?

Humor me...if this is a mono clip, try converting to stereo before bouncing. If stereo, try converting to mono before bouncing. Does the problem persist?

Sorry for slow reply, had to go back to studio and there's no internet. Thank you for your quick responses... o.k. yes it seems to be only on trimmed clips and it's only on clips that I trimmed dead air off, or a v-vocal/melodyne edit, and Mr. Anderton, I did convert a trimmed clip, and a v-vocal clip from mono, (which it was record in), to stereo and there was no increase in levels.... it seems to only take place when I bounce to clip a "trimmed" clip. strange, huh? has anyone else had this problem? I have before and after pics, but I have to admit, I'm a little on the stupid side when it comes to posting them, never really done it before, but I can assure you that the difference is very noticeable. Thank You So Very Much For Your Kind Help. Michayl

When you say "trimmed," do you mean you slip-edited it but the clip you see still references the entire file, or you actually invoked the trim function for clips?

sorry.... as the first part of your post said... slip-edited it but the clip you see still references the entire file. I want to make sure I give as much correct info : )

What I do is when there is a recorded word or phrase to edit, I alt/left click to cut the piece into the clip, then proceed with v vocal, or melodyne, or what ever as needed

Invoke trimming, hopefully that will solve the problem. The file still exists if you need it.

ok... round two! applying trimming by right clip, apply trimming will bounce the clip down without increasing the amplitude of the wav file, but applying trimming in that way only works with a trimmed wav file and will not work on v-vocal/melodyne, or slip-stretch edit clip.... it's greyed out and wont let me do it, hmm. I notice that the amplitude of the clips in question are increased any where from 3 to 5 dB. again, very strange..... guess I'll try to live with it for now.

Trimming will not work on a V-Vocal, Melodyne, or stretched clip because their processes are still "in play." You have to bounce this kind of clip to itself to create a WAV file, thus disabling the process, before you can trim.

I thought of an analogy...it's like trying to tailor a pants leg while someone's walking in them.
