Bouncing Melodyne (Again)

I have seen threads about bouncing Melodyne tracks, but could not find the right one with search.  I want to bounce a vocal track with Melodyne edits to a new track so I can create a final wav file for a CD.  I want to preserve the original source and Melodyne edits in case I want to go back and edit later; however, since I have sometimes lost Melodyne transfer files, I don't feel safe unless I bounce to a simple audio track.  So, here are my questions:
  1. Assuming I keep the Bounce options simple and do not use Fast Bounce, can I trust that the bounced track will be equal in quality to what I hear when I play the source with Melodyne as an FX?
  2. Is it possible to create a final mix to stereo wave with Melodyne as an FX, or do I have to bounce?  The answer may or may not be the same for other FX like Guitar Rig: Melodyne is somewhat unique (e.g., not allowing Bounce to Clip).
  3. Any suggestions about controlling the level of the bounced track?  If it is just a matter of setting the fader (and track gain), no problem; but I recall some conversation about this and I did have a freaky incident once where the level on the bounced track went through the roof.  I never discovered the cause.
As always, many thanks for the help.

    1. I don't see why not, I've never detected any difference in quality.
    2. I would always bounce and work with the post-Melodyne track, muting the original uncorrected track/clips for possible fallback in case of any reasons to go back to the original.
    3. Before a bounce I always turn the orignal clip(s) to 'neutral', i.e. centre pan. volume zero, and obviously you will have switched off any other inserted FX whilst the bounce is done (and before you transferred the clip into Melodyne).

    1. yes... quality should be the same. I simply select bounce.... what you hear and hit go.
    2. yes... I have melodyne in the FX bins if the tracks and simply bounce it to a new track. That can be done in a single track bounce or in a final export with melodyne in the project on a track as an FX.
    3. yes... I have used a few tricks in the past. Once, I had a perfectly fine non-clipped wave that clipped in a few spots after the melodyne bounce. I deleted the bounce and then selected the entire track and applied a -3db gain reduction to it. After the second bounce, there were no clipped parts.

Thanks, guys.  It sounds like Bounce is not sbsolutely needed for the final mix, but is a recommended best practice.  I will most likely bounce because with Melodyne on 8 harmony tracks as well as on the lead vocal and one or two vocal doubles, the memory and CPU strain at mix time could be significant.  Plus, as said before, I feel better about having a bounced track as a safety since I have lost Melodyne transfer files.

In the software forum there is a thread about a upgraded version of Melodyne. It also has a link to a review/publicity blurb and that references Sonar explicitly. You might want to check it out.
