Bouncing

Hi Everybody
I do have a very strange problem
I did a song with a lot of virtual instruments and a couple of audio tracks with my guide voice. Everything is working , but when I bounce a VSTi track to free up some cpu power and , after that , I mute the corrispondent midi track, when I press play it starts but after around 10sec audio is stopping with a X3 window error saying : audio has stopped due to an unknown error. It's doing it everytime I press play. No matter which track I bounce , result is always the same. If I delete the bounced track and restore the vsti midi track everything works
I do have an MBOX3 usb audio card with latest drivers and win 7 64bit
Am I the only one who has this annoying problem ?
Thanks

Try archiving the MIDI track rather than Muting. When you mute a track, it is still actively using CPU because Sonar doesn't know if you might unmute it at any time. Archiving cannot be undone while playback is occuring, so Sonar ignores archived tracks until they are un-archived.

Are you bouncing or freezing the instrument? If the latter, are you freezing fx too? Does it make a difference if you archive the original track(s)? Does the problem go away if you globally disable effects (CTL-SHIFT-Y)? Do you have Input Echo enabled on any tracks? Is the bounced track routed the same as the original instrument? What are the levels on the master bus before the halt? Does the problem persist if you mute the master bus? Do you still hear anything with the master bus muted?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Make a list of Bit's suggestions.

Then try them one at time, always reverting to the previous configuration before continuing

Then try them in various combinations.

Very wise advice.  In problems like these, we always assume we are just "one more try" from the solution.  But after you get 3 or 4 variables in play, the results tend to all mash together.  It is well worth the effort to write down everything you do as you are doing it.

Ok, Yesterday evening I checked what you said starting from the original project with no archived tracks
These are the tests I did
    1) I archived the first track (kontakt) using A , I created an audio track inserting the corrispondent audio file that it was already in the Audio Folder ( it was one of the tracks I bounced on Sunday) -> play -> working
    2) same procedure with second track ( always kontakt ) -> working
    3) third track : I did exactly the same , the only difference was the instrument ( real guitar) -> play -> lots of audio engine stops
Checked : 1) I did no freeze on tracks 2) all input echo disabled 3) disabling effects -> same thing -  4)routing was the same  5) master level ok

So I did another try : I bounced the real guitar vsti track using export from file menu ( On Sunday I did it from Tracks : bounce to tracks ) , after that , I archived the original track -> created new audio track inserting the corrispondent audio file
and.... it worked , play was fine without any problem

Don't know why, to be honest,  I didn't have the time yesterday to do other tries and checks but , anyway, this is my solution
    and I'm happy with it

Is there any kind of incompatibility with real guitar vsti ? Don't know
    Thanks for your kind help

    Hi
I thought I had solved the problem but yesterday when I loaded the saved session ( the one with real guitar exported tracks) I had the same problem
Looks kind of incompatibiliy problem in exporting tracks with real gtr vsti
Anyone can try and let me know if I'm the only one ?
    Thanks
