This fred looks lonely but I saw you post it yesterday and lol'd.

I had actually just been reading about his "performance" on CBC... and nope, didn't click the vid then either.

I watched his cover of "A Little Help" or whatever Beatles tune it was about a year ago and that's about all the Harpo warbling I need for a lifetime. As a semi frenchie myself (ON anglo french so I don't really count) I had to roll my eyes at his band's new name "The Van Cats"... as in "Vingt Quatre" for 24 Sussex Dr. Pretty much the most painfully english pronunciation of the number possible.

For our non-french, non Canuck friends "Vingt Quatre" is 24 in french and 24 Sussex is the Prime Minister's house... which of course Steven Harper is the Prime Minister of Canada... which he would REALLY want you all to know and care about but most of us Canadians don't expect it because... well many of us barely care and those that do care for the exact opposite reasons he would like us to.

lulz

He doesn't seem to have attacked music related arts programs in the country yet though so perhaps his love of music should be considered a blessing and I am certainly not going to begrudge anyone music as a hobby. Just gotta wonder what the original artists must think of him covering their works and whether he paid royalties considering it was thinly veiled partisan/promo event.

But that's perhaps bordering on TOS infringement so I'll shut my squeaker now.

Hi, Rain. :-p

The funny thing is that my wife performed for him at Canada day a few years ago, got to meet him, shake his hand and all. But of all the politicians out there, he's probably the one whom she hates the most.

She sang Hallelujah and made sure to look him in the eyes when singing the line "but you don't care for music do you" as they'd just announced some cuts on certain arts & music resources a few weeks earlier.

But apparently he shifted his attention to other things in terms of cuts since.

I have to be honest I've only started perusing what grants are available over the past year and as bizarre as some of them seem to be (with equally bizarre application requirements) I thought they seemed reasonably ample. Mind you I'm an old street/dive bar performer so I guess I don't expect much. I am disheartened about many of the things happening to CBC which provides exposure for so much talent that would otherwise be left with no exposure at all (and the CPC attacks continue).

As distasteful as I find the man and his manipulation of our democracy I gotta say performing for a PM is pretty impressive. Too bad it had to be him. Glad she at least managed to get a jab in. That's a pretty heavy tune for a fellow like him. Unfortunately I doubt he grasped its meaning (especially considering his own, un-ironically chosen, setlists) or just dismissed it as he and his ilk seem to do.

I miss real Tories. You could talk to a Tory. You could reason with a Tory. Reformers? Not so much.

Definitely breaking the TOS now but hey... it's Canadian politics so I doubt anyone cares. lol

Don't worry about the TOS,  that went out the window in September.

The CoC on the other hand*..  is alive and well.    Try to keep things music related.

Indeed. I know better but I guess I'm feeling a little spicier than usual. Rough couple days (will not bore everyone with details).

I was going to post a punny, tongue in cheek CoC youtube link but realized they're just a wee bit political themselves so I'll go back to me quiet corner. Fortunately I can get back to my writing tomorrow which I am looking forward too.

Also... hi, Karyn. :-)
