Brand new MIDI keyboard not working

Hi, I've got a brand new MIDI. AKAI LPK25. I connect it to MC6 as usual, by USB and then by selecting it in devices. The keyboard is connected, the buttons light up when I connect it but I here no sound. It just doesn't play any sound when I press the keys???

How do I fix this? Any tips for fixing awkward MIDI problems?

You don't mention inserting a soft synth. Your Akai can't make any sounds by itself.

yeah, Kalle's right.  the AkaiLPK25 is not a "keyboard" it's a MIDI controller.  MIDI controllers don't have sounds of their own, they need synths (hardware or software) to output the MIDI to in order to get any sound triggered from the controller.

in MC6 you'd need a softsynth inserted.  TTS-1 or Sound Center will work.

Use the "INSERT SYNTH" command and choose either Sound center or TTS. I prefer Sound Center myself these days....it sounds better.

You will have to select it as the input for that track but that should get sound out of the speakers for you.

let us know if you have problems past this point.

Uugh, no one answers my questions. I'm not an idiot. I know it doesn't have  sounds of it's own. Forget it. Maybe I just didn't word it right.

    Don't get frustrated :o) .
Everybody answered your question directly, the one that was written. The question that was only in your mind, we could not answer. How could we know what you know about MIDI??? One of the most common misconceptions here is that MIDI includes sound.

Maybe we thought that a person who knows about MIDI would also include information about his system, soundcard, the driver mode etc. etc. :o) :o) ?? Those are the basics that we usually need in order to answer properly.

Seeking help in the forum is an artform of it's own. You must remember that we don't know you, your gear and we don't see what you see. Only what you have written in your question matters.

You see, you still haven't told us what soft synth you use and how you inserted it!
