Break it Down - Moog tribute entry - Final? 5-14-11
Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on much, been trying to get this song done in time for the deadline for the Moog tribute contest. Drums are superior drummer all instrumentals are omnisphere moog, except for the 1 pad swell which is from Nexus 2 Vocals are a combination of battery and Izotope stutter edit other effects, Lexicon reverb, waves doubler, Camel Space, Izotope Alloy. Noman Magnetic, and Izotope Ozone. http://soundcloud.com/kro..rge/break-it-down-draft Thanks for the listen and any comments ! Final version posted? http://soundcloud.com/kro..rge/break-it-down-final Just added a bit of percussion, and some other minor changes. The song seems pretty solid. I'll listen to it a couple more days, and then probably submit it if I'm happy with it.

Interesting, shame the bass was not a Moog Taurus or there was not another Moog in there but you can not have everything. Not overly keen on the repetitive vocal line, not referring to the stutter effect, but again its differences that make for interesting. Thanks for sharing.

@ Wookie & Vechung, Thanks both for the listen. As I'm listening to the finished track more, I kind of agree with both of you. I'm ok with most of the vocals, but I think there are a couple of spots (in particular the large repititions of "free") that I might touch up a bit more before I send it off. It's always nice to get both a second perspective, and a couple of extra listens in.

Oh yea, I really like this Mathew. The low end sounds superb on my sub. Good luck with the contest. If I were to pick nits here, the one that is missing is bass guitar. Some good funky bass with a bit of slapping would take it to the next level IMO. I was jamming a bit of bass to it and had a blast, thanks for sharing.

Hi there Matthew. This sounds amazing - I just channelled it through my hi-fi and that wonderful low-end is moving furniture around Top notch mix/production - everything is so clear. Steve

Hey Matthew I was going to say that about 2:02, I would have added a change in the drum pattern. Something a bit more aggressive and then back off. Just a suggestion.

Cool stuff Matt. I liked it. I would echo Grant's comments re- the funky bass line, as that might add something to the overall feel. Best of luck with the contest.

Nice Stuff, Matt. Only suggestion is to get a deeper, richer percussion sound to compliment the snare/claps thing once the vocals come in.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I will look both at possibly adding a baseling, or a bit more percussion. I think the percussion will be easier to add (and is somethign I've been considering). Low end wise, I'll have to be careful I don't make it muddy. The mixing can be tricky.

You know, I'd love to see some of those BBoyz and BGirlz dancing to this. I'm imagining it as I listen. It sounds good, Matthew!

Thanks Warren ! I actually do a bit of popping myself, not that I'm that great. But I admit when I hear it, it makes me want to move.
