Bridged plugins out of sync. Is there a fix???
I'm noticing some of my virtual instruments seem to be out of sync w/ the rest of the song. Is this a known issue w/ plugins running through BitBridge? I think I remember reading that somewhere here on the forum. I switched one of them over to Jbridge and it was back in sync. But the other one, Nexus, doesn't seem to like Jbridge and the sounds are dragging behind the rest of the song. Is there a fix for this???

I don't own Nexus nor have I used it, but it looks like you are trying to use it with 64-bit Sonar. I went out to the vendor's website (refx) and found the following FAQ: =============================================== 1.4 Do reFX plug-ins work with Vista / Windows 7 64bit? The OS isn't really part of the equation. It solely depends on your host. 1) If your host is 32bit (yes, you can run 32bit programs in a 64bit OS) then all 32bit plug-ins will work fine. 2) If your host is 64bit then 32bit plug-ins will work if the host-vendor implemented a bit-bridge. Currently Cubase 4/5 and Sonar 5-8 provide bit-bridges. We've tested with Cubase 4.5 and Cubase 5 and had no problems whatsoever. ============================================== You will notice that the vendor doesn't say they have tested against Sonar, so you might want to work with the vendor on this one. Another option is to install the 32-bit version of Sonar on your 64-bit OS as well for issues like these and run your project in 32-bit Sonar (meaning no bit-bridge)

The guy that programs jbridge is very responsive to special requests as well. And yes Many of us run SONAR 32 bit as well just for those occassion when there is no other way.

I do however experience a crash if I try to invoke V-Vocal in a project unless Nexus is frozen.

I've noticed some weird behavior with Nexus in X1 64-bit on Win7 64-bit. Haven't tried with jBridge but there is something weird going on with the normally bridged version. I think it was just the effects that were out of sync - sounds played back just fine.

I use the Nexus delay all the time and I get perfect sync.

That's interesting. I wonder what cause this then. My remedy: Ditch the onboard delay and reverb on the Nexus and use Sonitus Delay and CSR reverb instead. Made it all well;)

Are you using Nexus2? Nexus2 involved a major rewrite (including adding the synchosoft dongle - hence my reluctance to upgrade).....

Nah, I'm on version 1 still. Not really feeling the need to upgrade yet. I only use Nexus for a sprinkle of Fairy Dust in my tracks and perhaps some sub bass so I don't think I will upgrade anytime soon either;) Still a good sounding plug

Yeah I use Nexus1 in almost everything (despite my music being guitar based) as it is such a fantastic sounding plug.... strange that you are getting sync probs and me not though and I see we have very ximilar setups

Hey ProjectM I'm wondering if you could check something for me. If you have nexus in a project please try and create a v-vocal clip on an audio track - does X1 crash on you? I've been having a problem with V-Vocal which I believe has something to do with Nexus......X1 crashes if Nexus is not frozen but doesn't if Nexus is frozen.

Funny, a guitar player I work with a lot also use Nexus in all his stuff even though his music is very guitar based. Must be the ultimate guitar players synth;) yeah, it's weird behavior but there are always something weird with one or two of my old plugins when I upgrade. In sonar 8.5 Camel Space acted up big time and was pretty much unusable - even though I did get some funny results at times. However, in Sonar 8 and now in X1 it works like a dream again. This happens all the time and I've stopped being bothered about it. Could be my fault, could be my system, could be something no one thinks of. I still have too many other plug ins that do some sort of audio trickery;)

Yes, Bitbridge has issues with some synths (I found it with BFD Eco) whereby it adds an empty buffer of audio to the front of the rendered output, effectively making the track play back late by that amount. The larger your buffer (or the BounceBufSizeMsec= value in AUD.INI), the later the audio will be. You might never notice it if you keep your buffer very low all the time. I originally thought this was just a bouncing/freezing problem but it appears to happen in real-time, too. Jbridge solved the problem with BFD Eco as well.
