On a related note, what I don't understand is that there are track colours and clip colours... but only one of them shows up in the Navigator. There should be a unified system for this so that defaults work sensibly and whatever colours you set up are visible everywhere (track view, console view, Navigator).

Generally speaking I'm not going to register for a forum and then download software I know nothing about, without some really good examples beforehand.
Ideally, these fixes would be part of the Sonar program itself.

Duckbar has a ton of users for many years who can verify the thing is great. try it :)

If you know nothing about it, best is to read up on it and see for your self if it's something useful or not. I can only speak from my experiences with using Panup's Duckbar/Sonarmods which I've doing since X1.......(not to mention many longtime Cakewalk/Sonar users also use this). The customization features are fantastic/very specific to your needs and Panu (the developer) is also a fellow Sonar user who does all of this for us for free........he has offered things with these mods that Cakewalk hasn't and possibly couldn't (?) offer. The best way to get a good example is to test it out for yourself by installing and see what it can do. If you don't like it or it causes you issues (which it never has for me.....(using Winx64, Sonar X3PE)), you can easily uninstall........simples. :))

Do you remember this thread? Unfortunately most of the image inks have died. But was great everyone exchanging colors sets and ideas, seeing how other set up. Some were really nasty, while others were fantastic. I miss the vibe this thread brought the forum. http://forum.cakewalk.com/SONAR-Color-Schemes-m956469.aspx Bring them back please, not just because it helped manage your projects, but it made Sonar yours.

I 100% agree that there should be an option to set background clip colours in preferences. After upgrading from 8.5 to X3 I was really disappointed that this feature was lost. I know there is Duckbar but I would prefer it was integrated into the program. I know you can do it in the inspector but wouldn't it be easier to set it in preferences to follow suit in all your projects? I really hope they bring this back.
