Budget equals Legacywares equals Issues

this is what i put on the presonus page:
Hi all.
As a "normal" American musician, I've kept a day job all my life while simultaneously nurturing my music career. What that means is I can't afford to rush out and purchase the newest, biggest, most popular gear/ware as it's released. But rather, I've built my own studio machine over time with a little help from Evil Bay. I'm pretty adept at figuring things out, but when I do hit a snag, I put myself at the mercy of the forums. Now is such the case.
The machine is a rack server case with an Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 on an MSI MS-7380 P7N SLI Platinum board with 6gb DDR2 running W7 Pro 64 and Sonar 7 Producer off the onboard audio supporting up to two Firepods which I got used from Evil Bay.

My issue is:
Sonar sees my Firepod as a 5/5 i/o device. That would be four L&R or Stereo and one SPDIF according to the audio input drop-downs for my tracks. Late last night, I configured my tracks as such: 1 & 2 assigned to "Stereo 1,2" on the FP, 3 & 4 on "Stereo 3,4" etc.
I wanted to do my test drive laying down a drum kit track with 2 OH SDCs; 57s on Snare, HH; EV PL 33s on toms (3), PL 35 on kick. As it is, I connected my OHs to 1 & 2 on the FP, Rack toms to 3 & 4, Fl Tom and Snare to 5 & 6 and Kick and Hat to 7 & 8 thinking that these pairs would "share" the stereo signal to the Sonar arranger. I didn't run this take, but rather went to bed intending to come here and do this.

My question is this:
How can I get my FP(s) to show up as (eventually) 16 mono tracks in the Sonar menu? I don't know if these FPs are FP10s or not, but I've read that a Firepod can be "upgraded" to a FP10. Could this have any bearing on this issue?
Now it's off to the day job.
Thanks!
