Bug in Staff view (arrow selection)

Hi, everybody
For the moment (Platinum 11.2016 update on Windows 7 x64), there is a new annoying bug. When selecting a group of notes with the arrow in the staff view, it draws a blue rectangle behind which the first notes disappear. Fortunately, they show back afterwards when the operation is done, BUT...

Confirmed the Select Tool behavior in SONAR Platinum 11.2016 Build 111 running on Windows 10.  Tried rolling back to Platinum 10.2016 and the Select tool worked as expected.

[EDIT:   Workaround: Right click and drag does not cause the same disappearing note problem.]

    Hope this helps,

Well I use the smart tool and right click drag without the problem.  However the OP should report this.

Yes, this is a bug I've noticed as well . . . what adds to my frustration with this bug is that Cakewalk haven't done any staff view improvements in such a long time . . . so why is this even happening ? Some one must have been tinkering and wrecked something, hopefully they can undo the damage, if they even care about staff view bugs.
Sorry to be so cynical, but staff view improvements are a sore point for many of us.

    INDEEDY !
So many improvements that I personnally don't need and never anything for the staff view !
It didn't change for more than a decade. Particularly fed up with Db that I'd like to be C# and C# that I'd like to be Db...

Hey Wookie . . . I'm also not clear on how to report this "officially" as a bug.
If we're in agreement that this is not just one user who has this happening, isn't this the place Cakewalk would look ?
It guess it won't show up in Cakewalk's automatic problem reporter, since it doesn't cause a crash.
So, how else could we let them know ?

The only chance they will do something is if a Cakewalk employee sees this thread.  The Problem Reporter is a black hole from which no issue can escape.

For what it's worth this happens for me too but I almost never use the select mode and almost always use right click-drag select.

I agree with the posters who have complained that there have not been any meaningful updates to the staff view, at least since Sonar 4.  This is a glaring weakness in what is generally a pretty good DAW.  Twelve years is a long time for a feature to go unfreshened.  This cannot be an accident or oversight.  The only conclusion is that Cakewalk simply doesn't care.

    Maybe, but ...

The only chance they will do something is if a Cakewalk employee sees this thread.  The Problem Reporter is a black hole from which no issue can escape.

Anyway, what's the worst that can happen if you open a support email?  A human responds and tells you that either they are aware and working on a fix, or they are not and that you should file a bug report?

If the latter case is true, file a bug report, then another support ticket in a few months to see if they are working on it yet.  The squeaky wheel approach ...   ( I understand that there is a general feeling that notation needs more love, but I am not referring to feature enhancements here, strictly bug fixes ...)

Sorry for my delayed reply but my ISP has proved to be crap over the last few days, broadband going up and down faster than a wh, well better not go there.

Definitely worth using the fault reporter to report such problems the disclaimer is only there because everyone needs to protect there butts these day.  I mean imagine buying a drink made with hot water and then complaining it is hot.

I had not noticed this item posted in this section of the forum.  I'm having the same issue in the Staff View to select notes.  This was working until very recently - I guess folks are noticing it happened in the 2016-10 release, I thought it was the 2016-11 release. In either case, it's new and it's a bummer.  I hope it can be addressed quickly - as it used to work as expected.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

    About bug reporting :
Ok, there is an "other" official place, but : We can see that some of the Cakewalk staff sometimes answer (when they want) in this forum and so I guess they read it all (and i do think it's part of their duty too). If they are really fond and proud of Sonar, they sure notice the bugs reported here and fix them...  Am I wrong ?
