Bug with track templates and AD2?

Can anyone else reproduce this or am I missing something obvious?

Whilst tracking I like to have a standard midi instrument for AD2 with a single stereo output from AD2 and then mess around with the midi file until I am happy with the part I have created.  My expectation was then to import a track template I have for AD2 with individual outputs mapped to separate audio tracks so I can use Sonar and Waves processing on the individual drums. I was expecting to be able to drag or copy the midi file from the original (stereo only track) onto the midi track of the multi output version of AD2 and then have it trigger the drums accordingly.

However when I import the track template no matter if I copy and paste or drag the midi file from the original midi track from the stereo only version it won't trigger the drums.  I can get output sound from the drums by clcking on the visuals of the drums and they play as expected.  However midi won't trigger.

I thought it might be something to do with midi channels but have proved it isn't by importing the multi out track template into a completely new session and then copying the midi track from the tracking session.  It then works fine in the new session.

Is there anything obvious I am missing otherwise I am going to have to save all the audio channels from the tracking session as a separate track template and then cut and paste the data from the tracking sessions into it.  This has proved easier said than done as I tend to freeze some synths during tracking to save latency and when I unfreeze them and save it as a new track template it is losing some of the presets I had on the individual VST's and synths.

Can anyone help please as it's driving me nuts

Thanks
Alex

What are the outputs of the imported AD2 track template set to?

They are routed to a bus called AD2 that routes to the master bus.

Audio box audio driver out 1. As explained it's not an audio issue I I can hear the drums when I click them, it's a midi trigger issue.

The midi file on the original stereo only track won't trigger the new multi output version of AD2

It works ok if you start a new session and have a single stereo instance of AD2 and then drag a midi file into it. Then if you import a the multi track track template into that clean session you can drag the midi file between the two and it triggers ok.

But for some reason it won't work if you do the same thing in a session with lots of audio and midi tracks

I've Sussed it but it seems to be a definite bug to me, at least on my system. When you add the multi track template to a project with other vst synths in it eg waves, it switches the midi output of the midi track for the multi track version of ad2 to the waves synth.

    I can reproduce this everytime

Hi, I can confirm this issue. You are not alone. It seems to be a problem between Sonar midi files and AD2.

When I updated from Sonar X3 Producer to Sonar Platinum one project with midifiles didn´t play with AD2. When I used AD2 directly no sound was there, too. I had to insert another AD2 Instrument with attached tracks and had to copy the miditrack to the new one. Then it was triggered again. I remember, that I had this problem before I went to Sonar Platinum, too.
It seems to be, that AD2 needs a "refresh".

When I loaded another project with AD2 without any midifiles the drums worked through AD2 directly. No problems.

    I think it´s a bug!!!
