Burning WAVs to CD

Hi everyone,

I just finished recording a Christmas album using MC4, and got the WAVs back from mastering.  Since we are very close to the holidays, I was hoping to burn of a bunch of CDs at home instead of using a professional duplication service, but noticed that instead of the tracks being named after the song name they get named the track name.  For example...Frosty the Snowman is coming up as track1.cda and there is no artist info showing up.  Any idea how to get that info transfer?  I tried using both Window Media Player and Roxio Creator.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks!

They should have returned to you a ready to go CD.

Or if they sent the waves by internet, the files should have been ready to burn. Maybe just rename them and burn them.

I've never used a mastering house so I don't know what to tell you besides to call them and ask what to do next with the files.

Seems like they would have told you up front.... hummmmm....

You should be able to simply rename the files either before or after bringing them into Roxio.
AFAIK (not sure) If the artist info is not added when the file has been created, you must add it manually to each file in the burning application. In Nero there's a separate window for doing it.

Just popped in my mind: Could it be possible to add the artist info via the wav-files "properties"-window?

Note: the options of adding data to a CD-file are much more limited than with mp3-files.

I tried using the MP3s as the source, since they had all the artist and song info embedded and same result.  The CD comes up as Unknown artist, and the tracks are track01.cda, track02.cda, etc.  I"ve now tried media player, Roxio and the latest iTunes, and all the same result!  Frustrating!  Thanks for all the responses though!

I'm pretty sure that the info in the mp3 file is not the same as CD text, which is what you want to do, right?

artist info and names are embedded by CD TEXT.  if you didn't include that in the files you sent to the mastering house, then you'll need to rip them to your hard drive, use a wave editor capable of CD TEXT, save it then burn back to a CD master for duplication.

and BTW - ALL CD's when you view the files from a computer are listed as track1.cda, track2.cda, etc.  that's the way the audio CD redbook standard does it.  the CDA files are just "pointers" to the hidden wave files on the CD anyway.

THIS IS IMPORTANT!  All CD's report the tracks as track01.cda, etc.  all of them.  Look at any of your commercial CD's, it's the same.
