Bus ignoring input and output levels (X3)
Note - this project was started in X2 and brought into X3, but I've been successful with that so far and so I'm thinking that's unrelated. Some (but not all) of my busses seem to be ignoring input and output levels, both from envelopes and my manual settings. AUTOMATION READ = ON. Any ideas? I made a new bus and copied my settings, but it's ignoring the new bus' settings as well. Muting works, and my reverb send (from the bus) also works. Just not input or output levels. Thanks - Billy

Restarting Sonar fixed this problem. Somebody tell me a modern upgrade is worth the money. I feel very burned on X2 and X3. I'd like my money back. 8.5 worked much better than either of these two versions and I feel I've been turned into an unwitting beta tester with these last two versions.

Holy Philadephia Experiment! Was this thread posted in 2009 and just now showing up? I hear ya, Billy. I stubbornly stayed with 8.5 through X1, X2 and X3 and the first year of SPLAT. Didn't get on board and current until early 2016. The good news: SONAR is now every bit as reliable as 8.5.3 was.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I had my issues with X1 in the beginning but I thought X2 and X3 were very stable.

Download the SONAR Platinum demo and give it a spin around the block, take it out on the highway while you're at it and see for yourself if it may be worth it, since that would seem to be subjective to the user. Imho

I'll vote for upgrading-- you will be pretty happy with the new Sonar as a lot has really moved ahead since x3e. The included VST's, plug ins and for me the new editing in PVR is worth the ticket price.. There was lots of discounted offers for upgrades recently. I think the trouble with the demo is you don't get a lot of the built in VST's and plug ins. You can always buy it for just one month?

The only caution I have about running a current demo is the Plug-in Manager appears not to be backward compatible. Before installing the demo, make sure to save a copy of the "Shared Utilities" folder or plan on reinstalling X3 to get the Plug-in Manager back after the demo (if you do not elect to upgrade).

As far as I'm concerned Sonar owes me a refund for everything I paid for versions X2 and X3 (I skipped X1). I can't stomach giving these guys any more of my money after these sour grapes. GRRRRRR!
