Thanks! I don't see them, but I gather from the thread I have to install and register the first purchase first, so I'll try that tonight.

I've had A3 for awhile and haven't tried it - always recording real amps. I'm interested to see if this creates a better/easier workflow...

Yes you just have to register the qualifying AT product for the free stuff to show in the promotions.

I find it much easier to get a sound with the amp sims. It's always there. Same place, same way, just turn it on.

I also like recording direct out of my Mk IV recording out jack. It does a real good job.

I haven't mic'ed and amp in quite a while. Being at home, it's a PITA to do. Because I don't want to play in the same room that I am recording in. I find I get better results when I can go into the control room and listen then go back in the other room, make adjustments to the mic placement/amp settings and try again. Rinse and repeat, over and over! PITA but great results!

Thanks Grem,
I have a studio with everything mic'd all the time, but letting the amps warm up, dealing with someone sleeping if it's late - I think some good templates in Amplitude could really be a creative tool to just open a template and start playing. I also really like the idea of tweaking amps, cabs, effects and such after the fact. As an old-school tube amp guy, I'm thinking I've held off too long on using an emulator...

I held off for a long time too! I got Line 6 Gearbox Gold for $99 back in 06 or 07. I just wasn't going to pay the going price for what they wanted back then. Which was like three to four hundred! Anyway, the situation I was in back then really left me no choice. Living in an apartment with paper thin walls. We all go through this at some point.

But once I got the sim and started using it, it really opened up the way I create a song. I can open any of the amp sims I have (which I did not pay full price for any of them!) and just start wailing away and get inspiration from that. I can go back and alter any song that I have. It's really nice. And if I can't get what I need from the sims, I can always send it to my amps.

So yeah, jump on board. The AT3 deal is great if for nothing else the clean sounds that they have. Lots of good stomps. And good rack gear too. Try the tube compressor. I'm really not a comp guy, I run straight into what ever I play and control my own dynamics. But I gotta say that tube comp works pretty good for me.

I have Amp3 from the Total Studio deal back around December, so I jumped on this. Hoping to spend some serious time with it this weekend (depending on kid schedule).

as much as I fought it, I'm kinda excited about. :) I wonder if it models ground loops! lol

Wow Grem, I also got the Line 6 Gearbox Gold for $99 back in 06/07 and then got into POD Farm ever since. This was also my first amp sim for the same reasons you had (apt. & all)..... like everyone has said, this $99 deal is a real steal considering all the gear/options you get. It's looking good for the 4th freebie :)

I just used 50 jam points on Amplitube 3, so the total out-of-pocket cost was only 50 dollars.
With the 4 freebies that will be 5 different Amplitubes for only 50 dollars. What a great deal.

If you have Amplitube for the PC and purchase gear such as the Slash or Hendrix collection and you want to use this on an iPad, do you have to re-purchase everything, or can you just buy the iOS app and you have access to your custom shop purchases?

I just jumped in. I resisted as long as I could but it was just too good to pass up. Having a time of it installing Amplitube though. I keep getting an "Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted" message. I'm stuck until I hear from tech support. Can't wait!

I'm having a lot of fun playing with this, but struggling with a level issue. I'm getting just a bit of distortion (the ugly digital kind) even though I don't see anything peaking in the meters, and I've padded the input (which is a high impedance input). Been watching Amplitube Explained on Groove3, but it seems to cover the basics (obvious stuff) and I haven't seen anything on level setting.

Anyone know of some good resources that cover getting the most out of Amplitube, such as the level setting, minimizing latency, etc.?

James are you using the standalone or the VST? I usually go with the VST and use X3 meters to get a good signal flow. I plug my axe straight into my interface, which has a high impedance input. What are you plugging into?

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface, and I found that the factory ASIO drivers don't work well with Amplitube.  The rotary speaker emulations in particular produce a harsh digital clicking sound.  However, using the ASIO4ALL drivers that I found on the web made everything sound good.  The latency is probably more now than with the factory drivers, but not noticeably bad.

thanks guys! I'm using the i2M as an audio interface, but also tried my Mackie 1200f. I'm using the stand-alone, but will create a project template in Sonar with this and BFD3 and see if I can't get everything tweaked just right there.

have you checked for updates?  My Focusrite Forte Drivers are rock solid on Win 8.1....

You don't have any specs...so no idea what the issue may be...|
If you notice, we all have specs in our signatures for making it easier for
others to answer our questions and find our issues...just an FYI...

I hadn't really noticed other people's specs because I have signatures hidden (Essentials Only mode).

As far as I know, I'm running the latest versions of everything: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 with 2.5.1 ASIO drivers, Windows 8.1 x64, Sonar X2a Producer, Amplitube 3.11.2.  The main difference I've noticed in the configuration options for the factory drivers vs. ASIO4ALL is that the sample latency values for the factory drivers are not powers of 2 whereas for ASIO4ALL they are.  Don't know whether the problem lies with Focusrite or Amplitube.

I've messed around trying to find a better solution but without any luck.  At least everything is sounding good currently (no more clicking), even if my latency is a bit longer than I would prefer.

Sirhan...don't know if you have the option, but have your tried to roll back to the previous driver?

Asio4All gives me terrible latency and pops and clicks and general horsepucky...don't like it.
Also may be something to do with Sonar X2a and the drivers...

Hopefully you'll hear from support.  Still not enough info there to go on.  But the vast majority
of folks here and at KVR that use the 2i4 have very good results...

I haven't had any issues with my 8i6, running very low latency. I have the 2i4 as well but have not used it yet with Amplitube, it has worked very low latency on all other VST's using ASIO drivers. My biggest issue with the 8i6 unit was at first I forgot to set the Line In as an instrument so I wasn't running it as Hi Z.

Don't forget to watch the input and out put levels with in Amplitube as well. You don't want to clip in the red on the way in or out of the Amplitube, the settings are along the bottom. On some of the amp models I actually have to adjust the input up a little within Amplitube to make sure my signal is shot enough. It all depends on how hot your pick ups are.

Also, there are hi, medium, and low resolution settings at the top in A3, to help with latency. You can set them low for tracking and reset them in Hi for the final mix or bounce.

Yes!!!  Thank you cclarry and MakeShift for encouraging me not to settle for my temporary solution of Asio4All (even though it seemed to be working).  I poked around again and discovered what was causing my clicking problem with rotary cabinets in Amplitube.  I had been using a sample rate of 44.1 kHz, but as soon as I changed it to 48.0 kHz the clicking went away.  So now I'm using my 2i4 with the latest factory ASIO drivers at 48 kHz with the latency at the lowest setting (1 ms).  Thanks again!
