It would be a great way to start a studio with some outboard. My 610 and 1176 are my most used bits of hardware. I have a Great River as well, but most of the time prefer the 610. And the 1176 is pretty much the ultimate tracking comp, and maybe the most used pro compressor ever? I've certainly seen very few pictures of studios from the 70s onwards that didn't have some in the rack.

Dunno about the UAD stuff, since I don't use it, but the board itself is $1500, so if it's effectively free who could argue.

The UAD plugins are generally considered to be some of the best sounding plugins out there.

True and then there are those that say Waves to be some of the best sounding plugins out there.

I have all UAD plugs and I've demoed some Waves. Both are pretty good considering I've no clue how to use them.

If I had the 2300 clams I'd buy it and give the UAD Quad card to a good friend who only has a solo card. I have the LA-610 (not the MkII) and I love it. I have a feeling I'd really love the 6176 too.

I love the LA610 as well... it is the nicest bass preamp I've ever used... I'll bet the 1176 would be even nicer due to it's potential for faster attack times.

    best regards,
    mike

During a webcast this week, Alan Parsons said that he is a UAD-2 user and was praising UA's EMT 140 plate reverb plugin.
